Re: Changes for next week v Nth in Hobart
Not getting much out of Montagna, Steven, Ray, in general- not doing enough work, and should be doing a lot better, and their defensive games are poor- should get dropped if AR is fair dinkum about work ethic and playing for the jumper. Gwilt is very ordinary, and maybe Simpkin to come in, with Hickey, Fisher and Murdoch.

So we drop 3 mids and a defender for a ruckman and 3 defenders?spert wrote:Not getting much out of Montagna, Steven, Ray, in general- not doing enough work, and should be doing a lot better, and their defensive games are poor- should get dropped if AR is fair dinkum about work ethic and playing for the jumper. Re: Changes for next week v Nth in Hobart
I think Hickey needs to come back in, Longer is having a dip but is behind Hickey if they are both fit.
We need to cause some turnovers in our forward half and I'm not sure why Terry was dropped as he was tackling and creating pressure… I would have Milera in front of… TDL, Minch & Dunell. Also think Saunders creates good forward pressure with his pace and tenacity.
Wonder if they will they risk Fisher? Montagna must be on very thin ice… Ross, Dempster, Dunstan & Steven also pretty disappointing, but the younger guys should be given more slack.
Surely we can't have all of Dunstan, Hayes, Armitage, Ross & Weller running through the midfield, would have to be the slowest in the comp surely?

Re: Changes for next week v Nth in Hobart
About eight players deserve to be dropped, but we have not got eight players who deserve to be promoted. A problem.
I would look at who can come in, and drop the worse players from yesterday.
In Fisher (even a half hearted game from him would have made him our best defender yesterday.)
Bruce, Had a good game.
Hayes if fit enough.
Milera. Dont know why the brains-trust dropped him and played TDL.
After that we are probably struggling.

Midfield getting slaughtered week after week- solid? nahdragit wrote:So we drop 3 mids and a defender for a ruckman and 3 defenders?spert wrote:Not getting much out of Montagna, Steven, Ray, in general- not doing enough work, and should be doing a lot better, and their defensive games are poor- should get dropped if AR is fair dinkum about work ethic and playing for the jumper. And having 3 less midfielders in the side will help?spert wrote:Midfield getting slaughtered week after week- solid? nahdragit wrote:So we drop 3 mids and a defender for a ruckman and 3 defenders?spert wrote:Not getting much out of Montagna, Steven, Ray, in general- not doing enough work, and should be doing a lot better, and their defensive games are poor- should get dropped if AR is fair dinkum about work ethic and playing for the jumper. Re: Changes for next week v Nth in Hobart
listening to the coaches presser, sounds like Lenny & Bruce are likely ins, maybe even Hickey. Fisher sounds like he is still at least one run short, and White is getting closer to being given an opportunity but hasnt quite done enough yet.
Dont know how many more 10 goal floggings this club can sustain before there is long term damage done to the mental fabric of the playing group.

Out - Don't care
Really, after watching the VFL on Saturday the only possible ins could be Bruce, Curren, Hickey and maybe Acres. White not quite ready and Fisher too risky. Simpkin, Saunders and Murdoch were very quiet. Terry and Jones are probably going to get back in. You could seriously omit up to 10 players without too many arguments, so a few will be lucky to be playing next week.

Re: Changes for next week v Nth in Hobart
I know a couple of these are both risky and unlikely but would like to see this:
B: Simpkin Delaney Newnes
HB: Dempster Fisher Savage
C: Shenton Hayes Montagna
HF: Minchington Reiwoldt Billings
F: Steven Bruce Stanley
R: Hickey Dunstan Weller
Int: Armitage Saunders Ross
Sub: Schneider
In: Simpkin Fisher Hayes Bruce Hickey Saunders
Out: Dunnel Gwilt Longer Roberton Ray Dennis-Lane

Re: Changes for next week v Nth in Hobart
Here is Hudson' summary this morning from the Sandy game.
Strong clues as to those who might be available to come in (bearing in mind those who didn't get through the whole 4 quarter due to fitness or minor injuries, but don't have long terms injuries e.g. Wright and Fisher).
On that analysis Bruce and Simpkin look like monties, Hickey, Saunders, Acres and Curren possibilities subject to who is dropped.

Re: Changes for next week v Nth in Hobart
I find it interesting that most are calling for Longer to be dropped. He's one of very few who's shown real ticker in the last month and has been steadily improving each week.
I rate Hickey highly, but anyone who watched the Sandringham game on Saturday would know he is hardly banging the door down. Holmes was more effective in the ruck.

Re: Changes for next week v Nth in Hobart
Longer had been improving until last week where he took a step backwards, his efforts to get to the ball weakened fairly early in the game.
Lenny back will help the midfield and let's face it that is where we are getting smashed. Longer was winning a reasonable percentage of the tap but our mids are just c#@p at reading it. Armo can only go in bursts and Jack can't find it nearly as often as he should be. It was so frustrating against Carlton watching them literally walking out of the centre every bounce. I'd be even interested in giving Billings and Minch a crack in the centre, they seriously could not do any worse than what is currently happening.
I'd also be interested in giving Curran a go instead of Mav, I think he's lost it a bit in the last couple of games.

I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

Re: Changes for next week v Nth in Hobart
Sounds like I dodged a bullet last week, didnt see the game
Montagna named mentioned to be dropped, was he that bad.Would have thought he would have a few merit points up over the years to be given the flick ,must have been very poor
Maybe a new roll for him perhaps off H/B,or even deep forward

He has no hope of being dropped because as you said he has a few points up his sleeve. Id put him in the middle for most of the game. he seems like he is out of the play to often at the moment.
Re: Changes for next week v Nth in Hobart
joey is probably safe...but fisher, bruce, curren and lenny if fit, are probable starters.....with tdl, dunny, gwilt and roberton to get the flick....bergsone wrote:Sounds like I dodged a bullet last week, didnt see the game

white may be an inclusion in the next couple of weeks if he maintains his form.....

TDL and Dunnell would be certainties to be omitted. Gwilt was poor.
Bruce is probably a lock to bring in.
I'd bring Acres straight in.
In: Hayes, Acres, Bruce, Simpkin, Curren
Out: TDL, Dunnell, Gwilt, Roberton, Ray

Re: Changes for next week v Nth in Hobart
I'm hoping Sandy can get by with 16 players. At the rate both teams are dropping players through injury, they'll have no-one left on the paddock.

I wish the Hun would write stories about our NEW AND IMPROVED injury list. It's just as depressing as our late noughties recruiting.

Nathan Wright Concussion 1 week
Arryn Siposs Shoulder 1-2 weeks
Jack Steven Thigh 4 weeks
Sam Gilbert Foot 3-4 weeks
Jarryn Geary Elbow 6 weeks
Daniel Markworth Hamstring Season
Eli Templeton Arm Season
Beau Maister Shoulder Season
Jimmy Webster Foot Season
