The comment of Hickey easily beating Mumford and playing the best Ruckmens game since 2009 is also over the top... Surely?
Mumford had 46 hit outs to 20
18 possessions to 19
9 marks to 8 marks
1 goal to 3 goals
4 clearances to 3 clearances
8 tackles to 4 tackles
In ruck terms, hickey was well beaten... In midfielder terms Hickey was great
And I suggest you check R11 & R 15 2011
Mumford is a good (established) ruckman, we all knew that - but so is Hickey, who had the same hitouts to advantage (despite the hitout numbers).
We won the team clearances.
Hickey is a young ruckman - and as such, he has more value than Mumford.
Hickey was a better midfielder
and forward.
Hickey was more effective and accurate with his hitouts - I wonder how many of Mumford's hitouts (the 35 or so that weren't to his team's advantage) were "hitouts to disadvantage"(this potentially revealing and damning stat is long overdue).
Hit out numbers mean nothing (it needs to be further analysed).
