So if GWS came to you and said, I'll give you 14 & 29 for Gilbert and Ledger would anyone actually want to keep Ledger?
or Ledger for Toy?

I have been keen to point out that he doesn't look ready to play seniors because of his rushed disposal but like most kids he will take time. You don't cut kids when the don't have Joel Selwood starts to their careers. He will go ok long term but like Armo and Steven will take 2 to 3 years to be a fully ready starting mid.

Yes, agree. Reminds me of Magner or Barlow. Burrows in, gets the hard ball then slams it on the boot and turns in over. Hope he comes good and we can put it down to inexperience

His skill level is much better than those two blokes St Ick. I think his decision making is the issue at the moment. I also think he got a little bit ahead of himself this season & put too much pressure on himself. I've seen him kick both sides of the body on the run accurately in the past, I've got more time for Ledger than most on here.

Anyway, I'm not trying to be smart but I am asking whether that is known to be factual or whether it's just accepted as common knowledge?

Tom Ledger – Mystery surrounds the future of Ledger, he is only out contract player at club that hasn’t been talked about when decision will be made. From WA and fact he’s still unsigned could be sign he will be used as trade bait.
Think it was on the age footy site also.
Re: Ledger
My apologies I didn't word it well. My concerns and comparisons to those players basically just relate to his decision making. I didn't mean to imply that he has/had poor skills. I hope you are spot on and he comes good.savatage wrote:His skill level is much better than those two blokes St Ick. I think his decision making is the issue at the moment. He gets gaught because his decision making is woeful, hangs on to it for way too long. The day he realises he is not a one man team is the day he'll become a player.borderbarry wrote:He seems to have pace, yet is always being caught with the ball. Far more often than Raph.

Re: Ledger
No need for apologies at all & to be honest it wasn't necessarily anything you said that made me write the above, it's just that I've read so many people talking about the skill level thing & it's not exactly the case.
One person says it, then another copies it & so on. Tom Curren is the same - I've always thought he was a pretty good field kick & had decent pace - yet all of last year all we kept reading is that his skill level is shithouse & he's slow. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago, he wins the VFL B&F - people that have never seen him play a game watch the highlights reel & suddenly come to the conclusion that he's a gun!

Re: Ledger
Ledger got hyped to such an extreme on this site, that it went the other way and people starting calling him a dud because he wasn't living up to the hype.
He still has some things to work on, but I think he has a bright future... hopefully at the Saints.

Re: Ledger
Ledger is an absolute ball magnet, quick, great in stoppages and is a pretty decent kick. He needs to settle down with the footy and stop trying to do too much and he needs to work on his defensive game. Both of these things will come with TOG in the AFL. When he's getting one quarter on the ground every couple of months, of course he's going to try and impress with every possession and perhaps forget about the defensive side of things in an attempt to make an impression.
I think he's been treated pretty poorly by the club in 2012 - he was our best midfielder in the pre season games and then was a late withdrawal about three times after being named in the H&A season. Then when he finally does get a senior gig he comes on as sub for 20 minutes in the final quarter.
In the one game of his six where he hasn't been a sub, he gathered 21 possessions (11 contested), 5 clearances, 1 goal and 1 goal assist. That is effectively his senior debut.
