Of course he is getting suspended.

The eye poking was a dogs act very lucky to get away with it, but this is pretty pathetic. Maybe a slap on the wrist may be needed. People tend to forget wat this bloke cops every 4 quarters every round of the year, bit like BJ . Only human people crack and sum dont. No excuse but any one would think he has raped and murdered sum one.....

Re: Judd - Am I missing something?
have another look at Youtube.
Genuine laughter, as if it was funny, the kind of laugh when an umpire runs backwards and falls over
This is a serious offence.
...imagine one of those bomber thugs doing this. Say if Watson's opponent is dominating, Hurley (for example) could do this to Jobe's opponent in the middle of a pack- in the back 50, Hurley gets pushed over roughly, gets a free within range...
Message needs to be sent that it won't be tolerated.
This morning's news, a Sydney reporter referred to it as "the chicken wing" as used in Rugby. Obviously a common defensive tactic in the NRL.
We need this stamped out now.
I will never forget an incident during Freo vs Saints in 2001 or 2002, when Harves was grabbed by 4 dockers in a stand-up tackle, wrenched to the ground.
We know what happened next.
I was up in the stands only about 50-60 metres away and watched as brave Harves tried several times to get up, twisting his strong torso in vain,
while the other Saints turned their backs on him, jogged back to position, oblivious to his distress.
F*cking sad sad sad and I will never forget this. Sad that nobody bothered to check him.

Leave poor Juddy alone!
The poor guy works his guts out 9 to 5 working for Visy in his demanding highly-paid high-pressure role there.
Even before he steps out on the footy field he must be mentally exhausted.
Then you have the nerve to criticise him for one slight error of judgement!

Re: Judd - Am I missing something?
I couldnt believe they actually returned to it - it's exactly the sort of thing the AFL would hate having attention drawn tosaintspremiers wrote:It's disgraceful channel 7 have basically ignored it.
Clearly someone at the AFL has words to channel 7 to go quiet on it.
Why, because it was a cold, calculated and a bizarre thing - did you see when he applied that extra bit of pressure when the arm was just past straight? - that extra bit that required some push to dislocate the shoulder - farking evil, creepy dog act - something the AFL would wish have gone un noticed - one of the "stars" of the game, revealing yet again his soul-less ness, and mean intent. I'd go as far as saying last night's act, went some way in bringing the game into disrepute, when a player can deliberately inflict injury on a defenceless player after the whistle as Judd did
The poor character of Voldemort has now been confirmed beyond any doubt
Farking Tom Harley can go F*** himself too, saying because there was no precedent he may get off. Judd created his own precedent and should get 4 weeks - as well as the whole world seeing him for what he is - some reptilian automaton

Re: Judd - Am I missing something?
Don't blame Chris. He's just applying what he's learned in his demanding job at Visy. That's the way they do business and always have. Forcing competitors' arms up their backs in order to bend their wills. Judd works for a club and organization that perfectly suits his personality and level of integrity.
I started with nothing and I've got most of it left!

just watched a reply and it would seem to me, he tried to break or dislocate a prone players arm/shoulder?
WTF?
this is as bad as stafford's attempt to cripple blake by dropping his knees on a prone player, which permanently damaged a young player.
One of the dirtiest acts on the football field I've seen...oh besides eye gouging, and an attempt to use pressure point tactics to disable a player.
WTF?
did I really see that? he grabs a prone players arm and attempts to lever it.
IRONICALLY HE GOT THE FREE KICK.
I don't like North, but I don't blame them for trying to get him off.
WTF?
not the first time the clown has had an absolute brain fad during a match....pressure points anyone???
.everybody still loves lenny....and we always will

Re: Judd - Am I missing something?
What is classic Judd is the fact that he received a free kick from the incident…
If bumping an injured player is big no-no, then surely actually willfully causing injury is even worse?

Re: Judd - Am I missing something?
There are a number of interesting things about the incident. First, Chris Judd has been reported by one of the boundary umpires - most unusual these days. (Clearly no field ump saw it, which is why the retaliation was penalised) Second, the media says the report is for misconduct, but under the current rules (which these days strictly define misconduct charges), no misconduct charge would cover the incident, unless it is to categorised as "serious misconduct" in which case, it would go straight to the Tribunal. More likely, the charge will be changed to "rough play". In that case, it would probably be deemed as "negligent, medium impact and body contact" - a level 1 offence drawing 125 demerit points. Whether he misses a week will depend on his record, but an early plea would reduce it to below 125, i.e. a reprimand, anyway.
As far as the TV coverage and commentary was concerned, I thought it was appropriate. The pictures were shown numerous times (so were hardly hidden) and the commentary was balanced - there is little point finding a player guilty and giving him weeks during the call of a match. Overall, the commentary was a delight to listen to, at least that part of it that I heard (I decided the game was over three minutes into the third and switched off), especially after having to put up with two of the three stooges the week before.

Re: Judd - Am I missing something?
If that isn't a serious misconduct then I don't know what is…?
Attempting to dislocate a shoulder is pretty serious stuff, the recipient could potentially miss a lot of footy from the injury.

You can't seriously suggest a slap on the wrist for that low life act is suffecient, especially considering that he has a record of these low acts and getting nothing more than a slap on the wrist after the afl come up with some lame explanation for not suspending him.
He should get a decent holiday, but I an sure he wont

Re: Judd - Am I missing something?
I think Judd's standing in the football community has diminished a lot over the last few years with these sorts of things he's capable of doing. You've got to be a real mongrel to even contemplate eye gouging, pressure points and now this, which I think is the worst of the lot.
Brownlow medals have been awarded retrospectively, I think it should work the other way as well.....strip him of his medals I say!

Re: Judd - Am I missing something?
Yes, you are correct. Serious misconduct will only be used where the actual result has been serious, not a "potential" result. Having a sore shoulder (the player came back onto the field less than 15 minutes of playing time after the event), will never be regarded as "serious" . If the MRP finds a way to stick with "misconduct" then the penalty could be lower, perhaps 80 demerit points before a plea.dragit wrote:If that isn't a serious misconduct then I don't know what is…?
I would be a good idea if people actually read the Tribunal Booklet (it's on the AFL site) before arriving at their conclusions, but I suppose that's a bit like reading rule book before yelling "BALL" as a soon as an opposition player is tackled (with or without the ball).
