Re: Gilbert - Can we carry him
Yep. No replacement available for Gilbo. He has height and run (which we will need against GC).
The Gold Coast will be a good opportunity bring in Raph. Gwilt needs the game to lift his confidence.
Newnes may miss out, although a less pressured game may help him from an experience perspective.

Re: Gilbert - Can we carry him
Gilbo will get better once Fisher returns and Gwilt gains some form... It is hard for defenders when they are unable to work as a cohesive unit for some time.. His skills are poor and he needs to find form, but his defensive efforts are still there and he's working hard...
Once Fish gets back and settles down the whole unit again, he'll re-find his feet im sure...

yeah but he's not doing the things that make him indespensible
what are we getting if he's been consistently beaten?

Re: Gilbert - Can we carry him
I went to the game fri night and i was screaming "get him off" , however , i just watched the replay and noticed some great running. a couple of good inside 50s to a target and some great endevour. I think his first kicking turnover in the backline ruined his confidence , and he got caught after that when he hesitated. If we can only play him on the backline i would give him a rest for clarke , this week. If we can find room for him on the wing leave him in.

Not tonight. It has been very good.
Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

hopefully he gots some confidence from this and produces a good performance against quality opposition
Re: Gilbert - Can we carry him
He was excellent tonight. His best game for a while, perhaps collingwood in the pre-season.... Surprising thing was how well he used the ball.... However, don't overestimate the opposition. They are disgraceful, but that's not Gilbert's concern, he just need to play good footy.... Which he did

Re: Gilbert - Can we carry him
Gee, I hope other teams thought so, especially GWS. Maybe we can get a fifth round pick. I really liked his shot on goal in the third. We are so lucky to have "guns" that no other team rates.BigMart wrote:He was excellent tonight...

So we judge his game on one shot at goal??
I have been a harsh critic, but tonight he was VG so credit when it's due. He barely missed a target

Re: Gilbert - Can we carry him
i Guess we can carry him as long as we can carry Kosi.
even though he is way more valuable to the side than Kosi which makes you wonder why threads like this exist????

Re: Gilbert - Can we carry him
When we have so few effective talls I just wonder why these threads exist and why some on here just choose to bash our own players ... and Gilbert has been quite good for years - he is only struggling because he has had to fill the full-back role when he was fine as our 3rd or 4th backman. Give Sam a break FFS.
This is a team game and there is no room for individuals who think they are above walking through the fire.

Re: Gilbert - Can we carry him
Sometimes you need a game like this against questionable opposition to get that confidence back.
We all know that he has the skill, maybe this is just what he needed. A good solid game.

Re: Gilbert - Can we carry him
So 2 good games in a row....are we still carrying him?
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.
Re: Gilbert - Can we carry him
How good does he look up the ground PJ...
You'd think he will play on the wing again when Fish returns.
Some of his lace out passes were excellent, 2 goal assists.
