Re: Newnes v Ledger
How did I play the man exactly? Apart from going early, god you are hyper sensitive Gora.Con Gorozidis wrote:is that what im saying even though i saidnquote " i dont know the internal issues?" whioch means i start saying i DONT know more than watters did u read that part???SaintPav wrote:erm, no..what you are in essence saying is that you know more than Watters and the coaching staff.Con Gorozidis wrote:I have no idea what the internal issue has been but Newnesy is not quite ready for AFL at this stage.
Ledger could have been the difference in 2 full games.
Newnes has been ok but I'd say he will be having a rest either this week or next. Ledger will get his chance but I wouldn't say he is a direct swap as they play different positions.
Anyway, how did Ledger go in the VFL on the weekend?
FFS. following from that. if people werent allowed opinions we should close this whole forum down.
different positions my ass. most players are "mids" and these guys are both "mids"
newnes was a rabbit in a headlight on friday. thats a fact.
im happy for people to attack my opinions but shites me when people just deliberately play the man and just try to be contrarian for its own sake.
no doubt you were a big rob eddy fan saint pav.
newnes is a kid and he will be good but he wasnt up to it on friday.
If Watters is playing Newnes now, it means he thinks that he is AFL ready. He wouldn't have played him otherwise.
Do you really reckon that we would be 4 zero if Ledger had played? That is why I was questionong your post befor you had a go at me...FFS it's only a question...balah blah...

This from the same thread that you knew him very well, yet managed to spell both his first & last names incorrectly... But a different thread to the one where his old man was getting ready to cave your head on because of the amount of rubbish you were dribbling...BigNote wrote:Overall, I am a little surprised he got picked up....played OK without dominating TAC cup/Champs....is an in between size....and a couple of other ???'s
Re: Newnes v Ledger
That is what I heard.... And why did you not take the full grab, obviously I had written more before "overall".. Selective headline...
That threat was not taken too seriously, since I have met his old man. If you met me, and more importantly knew me, you would understand why.

Just answering your question "when did I say that?"
Thu 18 Nov 2010 8:18pm
Sounded like you had completely forgotten saying it.
Old Attila sounded pretty serious, hence the thread being locked as it was escalating.
I went to a lot of effort digging out that crap, hope you appreciate it

Re: Newnes v Ledger
Purely on a football point of view, based on what they showed in the pre-season, I completely agree with that and think it could easily have cost us not having them out there, so I hope any issues there get sorted ASAP.BigMart wrote:Can't work it out
And Siposs also..... Both should have played every game.

I have heard on Sunday there are no issues at all with Ledger which is great. They wanted Cripps as sub because he can go forward and back. They just made late changes due to our team balance and the oppostion side.

Ledger has developed far faster than Newnes but thats not to say with a few more games and a lift in confidence Newnes couldnt be a top 22 player, he diffently has the stuff.

Re: Newnes v Ledger
I heard this week that there are some minor issues with Ledger, from the discussion I had and then reading between the lines it seems like he has a lesson to learn. reports from Tuesday morning drills suggest he has a way to go. Also heard that Wilkes is a cert this weekend but i guess thats pretty obvious considering Kosi is out.

If it stays wet on Sat, I doubt that Wilkes will play.

Re: Newnes v Ledger
Attitude issues, some think he is not always giving 100% all of the time, stuffing around during drills and generally not taking things seriously enough. only minor stuff but I got the feeling its why he's currently being left out. My Mail was that Wilkes is a cert. But I guess weather might come into it.

Thought that as well but i since learned that isnt true. Attitude is fine. They just went with Cripps as sub because he can play forward and back.

this whole 'attitude' things is such a crock.
basically every 2nd year player not in the side gets accused of an 'attitude' thing on this forum. farks me off.

BigMart wrote:Both good kids....
I'll have a stab at where I see our kids in order from 2009 onwards in order if I had to draft them
Seb Ross.......... Great attitude, tough
Aaron Siposs......smooth
Jack Newnes......very nice all round player
Tom Ledger........tough, hunts the ball, quick inside
Tom Simpkin......has a real dip, competitor
Daniel Markworth.........size and athleticism, could have huge scope
Daniel Minchington....... Really rate him
Jamie Cripps..........good athlete
jimmy Webster..........nice footballer, HBF/Wing
Jack Ferguson.......Project CHB, good athlete, has scope
Tom Curran........small, tough as nails, strong
Warrick Andreloi........outside runner with skills
Daniel Archer.......strong KPP
Nick Winmar........utility with good kick
Sam Crocker........small, outside good kick
Wow, Gold Coast and Greater Western Sydney must be kicking themselves for letting these future super stars fall through to later draft picks.
Come to think of it all the other 17 clubs let them slip through.
Either that or you are easily impressed by players who can beat up on the the kindergarten leftovers.
Unfortunately the club needs players who can beat up on seasoned AFL players of the other clubs.

Re: Newnes v Ledger
The club may well have made a decision that come what may they will always play at least one player from the 2011 draft.
Newnes was picked behind Ross and Markworth, but Newnes is getting first crack.
The club may eventually rotate Newnes out and Ross or Markworth into the team in.
