Very worried that they are trying to make Stanley a ruckman ... would rather he was made a key forward ... especially in an era that transition into the forward fifty is becoming a foot race.
AwayInUSA no longer ... have based myself back in Melbourne for a decade of Saintsational Success (with regular trips back to the USA)

I haven't seen any evidence he can kick more than about 25m.Saintersss wrote:I've yet to see this 'good kicking' in the AFL or VFL. He shanks it a lot. I know when he was drafted, the reports said he was a good kick, but he hasn't shown it yet.InkerSaint wrote:Agree with the above - it would be nice for a change to have half back flankers that can not only run, but bring good kicking and decision-making to the role.
Hope he can improve in this aspect.
He seems to kick the ball with his ankle all loose and floppy.
(But he's probably got the best goal-to-kicks ratio than anyone in history.)

Like Kosi. If Stanley bulked up he could play ruck maybe.millarsaint wrote:as a 200cm player you have to do both franklyBackFromUSA wrote:Very worried that they are trying to make Stanley a ruckman ... would rather he was made a key forward ... especially in an era that transition into the forward fifty is becoming a foot race.

Dare say we haven't seen enough of Cripps to know what he is capable of, or where else he could play.
Looks more of a dour Bakes-type from this footage, which by the way is far from flattering…

He reminds of Heath Shaw....dragit wrote:Dare say we haven't seen enough of Cripps to know what he is capable of, or where else he could play.

Has anyone actually seen his "nice foot skills" yet. He's done OK and kicked a few goals but I don't think his kicking skills have been his highlight. Unless you count dribbling goals from 10m out great kicking skills.StNoodles wrote:Hopefully he can play off half-back, using his nice foot skills, and release Goddard to roam further up the ground...
I hope like all of us he is a gun, but let's see him deliver the pill to others before we rate his skills.

If Bakes was on speed and was playing the ball more than the man. Seriously though he looked like he close checks but doesn't mind running off and being creative. Good under pressure as well, I liked the way he goes about it. Compared to Winmar he looked incredible.dragit wrote:Dare say we haven't seen enough of Cripps to know what he is capable of, or where else he could play.
