Must also be similar to the one Corey didn't get suspended for, and one that Trengrove got suspended for (Dangerfield) and another which Trengrove didn't get suspended for (Ward).Eastern wrote:Sling tackle on Adams. Well it was classed as exactly the same as Corey's but Armo had been a naughty boy before.dragit wrote:Must also be similar to the one Corey didn't get suspended for, and one that Trengrove got suspended for (Dangerfield) and another which Trengrove didn't get suspended for (Ward).Eastern wrote:Sling tackle on Adams. Armo slammed Adams in a tackle. Adams stayed down for a fair while. Happened in our forward 50 during the second quarter, only 20 seconds or so left before Half-Time, during the play leading up to the behind that Nick ended up getting a down-field free kick from the Goal Square. Was worried when I saw it, and the MRP didn't miss it either.

That's an option, but it depends on how the club wants to use Walsh. Is he seen as a potential contributor during the finals series? Or is it just to get some match experience into him?older saint wrote:Perhaps Walsh in as sub ( we have used Blake before in this role) and Geary gets a full game to see if he is up to it for finals.
If it is the former... history says not many players perform spectacularly in game one (or early on). Gwilt is the only one in recent memory who I think performed decently in his first game or two.
If it is the second one, probably the time for that was earlier this year and not right before a finals campaign. Sure, we are an outside chance at best but bringing in such a raw player seems risky right now.
I reckon most people here just want him to get a run so that he doesn't head back to Ireland disgruntled that he didn't get a game. His recent VFL form by all reports has been good, and if he gets selected it should only be because of this and his potential to contribute in the finals... not any notion that we have to give him a game or risk losing him.
I think, and hope, he will burst on to the scene next year. With another pre-season under his belt and a solid end to this season in the VFL he should be ready for the rigours of AFL. I won't complain if he does play this year, as I said he's been in good form, but as a rule players take a while to find their feet so debuting a player in or just before the finals might be counter-productive (although there are exceptions to the rule, hopefully Walsh is one of them!).

WHilst I beleive it's good faith to fight if possible....Life Long Saint wrote:One match ban either way for Armo...Might as well fight the charge.
Tackle the tackle so to speak.
would the other option be to not take any discounts for the fact that it SHOULD? wipe out any pre exisiting points and no carry over........
Just another option if it is possible to wipe out carry over. points

Rooey got 3 weeks reduced for good behaviour for standing in the way, Corey tried to wheel chair someone =walks, Rooey gets poleaxed and his destroyer gets the same penalty he got for getting in the way. Brent Harvey jabbed the face of Dempster and wants the video reviewed? This game is a s*** heap at the moment.
So is it taken from medical evidence only? Is it formulated? is there any precedent looked at? do the AFL have a spinning wheel with different penalties written on it?

It was less a sling and more a 'buckle at the knees and let weight drop' as far as I can see.F_Q_F wrote:He might have a chance at the tribunal, didn't pin the arm in the tackle. Can't see clearly from the vision if his head hit the ground either.

I appreciate players need to be very careful in similar circs but I'm not convinced Armo's been fairly done by here.

what he's got to lose is 2 weeks next time instead of 1.F_Q_F wrote:He might have a chance at the tribunal, didn't pin the arm in the tackle. Can't see clearly from the vision if his head hit the ground either.

remember daisy/filth somehwat mystifyingly challenged his hit on CJ earlier in the year and he ended up with 68 carryover points instead of 28...very nearly cost him an extra week this time around, given daisy's early plea gets him down to 237 (see below) but if he plead guilty last time his early plea would now get him ~206 for the hit on the weekend. would have still missed 2 but have bugger all carry over points, and very close to 1.
MRP wrote:He has also 68.75 demerit points carried over from within the last 12 months, increasing the penalty to 316.25 points and a three-match sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 237.19 points and a two-match sanction.
