Our season is totally farked anyway.
We need to start the preseason (even if we make finals) now.
No.
Whilst I agree that our chances of a flag this year are most likely screwed, I don't see what difference 3 weeks would make to Roo's recovery for next year. Whilst we are still in with a chance to make finals - i.e. another 2 weeks, then I'd prefer that we didn't potentially unnecessarily out Rooey in for surgery that may be able to wait another few weeks.
It's been well reported that he has a chronic knee condition that needs managing over the rest of his career. On the basis of past evidence he can easily recover between the end of one season and the start of the next.
Also, history tells us that he can look farked one week and have a Lazarus-like recovery the next.
Hird... The unflushable one is now... just a turd...

I'm sorry but as big as his heart is, he only had one leg. Lynchy was fully fit, Roo couldn't jump, kick or run - could have almost cost us the game this week as he mucked up a couple of things in the last which could/should have been goals. So while I admire the fact he bleeds for the club, I was furious that he wasn't subbed when he clearly wasn't able to contribute the way an able bodied player could.
Look, I didn't see the game today, but unless Tom Lynch did something extraordinary that was not called on the radio, I'd say that a one-legged Roo is better value than a two legged Lynch.
I think that's more to the point.
Roo obviously thought he was okay to go on and there was still a game to be won. He was still our best option at that stage.
We all know Roo probably would have wanted to play on had his leg been amputated just before three quarter time, but the decision should not have been his to make. Its the equivalent of a soldier running into a battle without a gun, brave, but doesn't really help the cause... not sure where that came from... anyway - its just my opinion of course, but the good of the team should always come before an individuals decision to play on when it was obvious he wasn't able to do much - it was hard to watch him to be honest - gutsy, but he wasn't right and it hurt the team.

Go those mighty Sainters!!
Why did he take that kick-in? Where did that come from? Bizarre to the max.

It was just nice to see him kick a beautiful 55 metre drop punt straight and true...it's amazing how well he can kick when there's no risk of missing goal...

Bingo!
Give some of the Sandy guys the last couple maybe 3 weeks to see what they have at the top level. Looking at making a serious attempt in the finals this year would be fanciful. It is Collingwood...Geelong then daylight Im afraid.
Roo needs to get the body and head right. And someone please teach the boy what happens with bad body language!

I'm not sure he's had his body or head right for the last 2 finals series to be honest, and we've still nearly pinched 2 premierships. Given his recent form against North, you'd have him out there on two bloodied stumps.
Hopefully we'll have a full team out on the park, with our backs to the ropes, and pull of another challenger snuffing win against an up-and-coming opponent.
Does anyone believe what Ross was quoted as saying in today's paper, that Nick is "certainly not injured"? Does he take us all for fools? He's been struggling to get around the ground in recent weeks.

See I would rather see Roo get both Head and Body right for next year. I dont want to see a champion hobble around on 1 leg for the sake of this years finals chances.
There is nothing more than to see Roo pull on the number 12 for another 4 years at least but if we dont manage him correctly he will be burnt out within the next 2 years which would be a massive and sad loss for him and the club.

It scared me actually.
The sceptic in me thinks maybe technically he's not injured. Maybe his knee is just rooted, and it can't get better.
Sigh. Well...he's gotta go sometime. However, the other side of it is that Andrew McLeod played with no cartlidge in his knee for about 5 years (bone rubbing on bone...eeesh), but continued with shots. The poor bugger could be found hobbling around West Lakes any day of the week. Yes, he changed a little as a player, but was effective up to his last game. All may not be lost, I'm more worried about his inability to take a contested mark lately.
When I read the headline, my first feeling was one of relief....cos I thought he was going to go and get himself sorted out...its more stressful watching him run himself into the ground for little reward...play the two Tommy's and see whether we make the finals....its not like we're gonna win the big one, so Roo should just get himself right.
Larkin performs medical examination through a pair of binoculars, I know an orthopedic surgeon who says in the industry his diagnoses are considered a joke... don't take it as gospel, it's a semi-educated guess.

I don't think anyone would see that one coming -including us Saints fan. Not a bad idea bringing him on Part way through the 3rd quarter

In theory is a great idea but you can't under estimate the importance of roo to our structure (playing with 1 leg or 2) for this to work kosi and walsh would have to come in and roo would have to be subbed on for walsh about 10 minutes into the 3rd qrt.
