he subbed off monty a few weeks.
RL has managed to turn around what was looking like a season 98/season 99, a season 94/95 into a season we are ramming into the finals.
at the start of the season I thought it that the talent was still there but the mental application was gone. I wasn't sure that RL had the capacity to do get them fired up again, goddard looked flat, dal didn't go near a hard ball and monty was picking it up and kicking it anywhere.
I started 2007 as a RL hater, now, after all he's managed to do, and lifting us up to a point where folks are looking forward to the collingwood/st kilda game........
10 weeks ago we'd have been writing down the pies/saints game as a loss.
Now we are looking at it as how close will we be?
he's managed to instill faith, hope and discipline into a side that was emotionally crushed, missing our best midfielder, and 3rd best defender, written off in the news, wasted 7% of the salary cap on a player who will never play for us, and had a few of our players dragged through courts as witnesses as well as rumour re: the saints every week for 4 months.
atm if he subbed of a player I'd take it as a good move.
Armo was listed as trade bait, now he's tearing em up, macevoy his getting nervous plaudits from the opposition and mini was running into some good form in the magoos before busting his shoulder and season.
he's bring the saints up to a boil and I suspect we are going to hurt the pies, win lose or draw, its going to be epic.

Lynch will be a very good player, perhaps even our very own Steve Johnson in a few years time.
He has great touch for a kid who has played only five games.
I would rather he was getting games and game time ahead of Gamble to aid and fast track his development.
This year Lyon has missed a few opportunities IMO to develop players and give them valuable experience ( Walsh for example ) which would probably help us in the long term.
Lynch should be getting more games.
Armitage should be getting more time in the middle!
Marto is correct!

Lynch according to a friends nephew who played with him at Sandy in the TAC reckons he became a little ahead of himself when drafted. He says he was finding footy easy because he developed a big body early but hasn't found footy as enjoyable since having to do the hours in the gym and may have some attitude adjustments to make

Worry about BM's knowledge of footy. Was at the ground so always think you get a better idea of the game. Lynch was by far the logical choice. Struggled badly and is very slow. Correct move done at the right time. By the way are you sure about Geary's disposals or just another story like how fast Smith was at the draft camp. By the way can you tell me what he ran 20 metres in.

Or conversly, the have taken a top 2 team to seventh this year....
The players, more than the coach and selectors have turned the season around......almost totally player driven, from a meeting stemming from the melbourne game
Why is it when any sort of critisism is directed at Ross......you are automatically a ross hater????
The guys a great coach, thats a given....he is not a good developer of talent....and he freely admits, he is a team coach not a player coach....and individual development is not a concern of his.....
He should not have subbed off lynch....it served no purpose....either in the game or going fwd
Cannot see the forest for the trees...

How do you know these things? Lynch was definately the man to be subbed off. Whether it was in the game or going forward. You really struggle with us winning so now you resort to bad judgement call that Lynch should not have come off when clearly it was right.BigMart wrote:Or conversly, the have taken a top 2 team to seventh this year....

I would say RL didnt want to weaken the onballers so Armo and CJ were never going off. Gamble was the only other option but to me Lynch was struggling more than Gamble. Certainly was blowing up more than Gamble. I have no idea what playing well or not has to do with this.BigMart wrote:Plugger
We got the four points.....as we should have
Did we play well???
Not concerned withbeating GC....more concerned with becoming a contender.
Why was lynch definitely the man to be subbed....
Why not gamble, why not jones (who got torn a new arse), why not armitage???
So no one is allowed to comment unless they....good onya
An idiot at the footy, is still an idiot......
Its nice you 'worry' about my knowledge.....but honestly i care little about what you think..... Because i dont rate you at all...
And im not robinson crusoe there.......
point was...not that he the wrong person to go off due to his performance....but really it made zero difference, and it would be better for lynch if he got more game time against kids....
Ill repeat, you sometimes need to allow kids to make mistakes and learn from experience.....for god sake, the boys had 5 games in 3 years
Then again, ross was still trying to come up with ways to beat the 16th ranked team with 10 first year players at 3qtr time...i suppose.
His way....

Fair Dinkum, you can be a complete pain at times.
From you today we have had RL trying to ruin Armo's career, destroy Lynch's confidence and tring to find a way to be a team that the Saints were 3 goals ahead of all game.
You really let your ego and arrogance rule of sense and rationality.
Really if you read back over your posts today, if you had any self awareness, you would be slightly embarrassed.
Somehow I dont think that will happen

I have no idea where you come up with these things. Who said you couldnt comment. And as if I am going to care if you or others rate me. Like you i give my opinions and like you i am sure you dont care what others think. It is when some people think opinions are fact that really bugs me like when someone said Alistair Smith is fast because of state screening results. The fact he never did state screening and there isnt any results of his 20 metre sprint even at draft camp suggests that those comments were made to back up an opinion that should have just been left at that.BigMart wrote:So no one is allowed to comment unless they....good onya

[quote="plugger66"] It is when some people think opinions are fact that really bugs me

Thats correct. You can have your own opinions, but you cannot have your own facts.
Sadly some are so deluded they think their opinion IS fact.
Opinions are like arseholes, some are bigger than others though
