Malthouse likes his shiraz...
"The inches we need are everywhere around us. They're in every break in the game. Every minute, every second. On this team we fight for that inch. On this team we tear ourselves and everyone around us to pieces for that inch. We claw with our fingernails for that inch. Because we know when we add up all those inches that's gonna make the f***in' difference between winning and losing! Between living and dying!'

As evidenced by...??BigMart wrote:Good coach
Good bloke from all accounts. His record as a coach was undeniably poor generally and diabolically poor in big games. Especially as a coach with cattle (at various times).
I reckon he's an articulate, thoughtful, interesting football person.
But it's impossible to say he's a good coach when plainly his record says pretty much the opposite.

Its threads like this that really do the credibilty of this place the world of good..not
We can mock other coaches leaving but God forbid if someone mocks us
Brought a lot of previously unused sports science to AFL
Seems to have done the right thing by the Club and gone gracefully
I wish him well in whatever the future holds for him (If Im allowed to do that as he's not a Saint )

Pretty hopeless in his past two seasons.

Injury luck or poor managent???BigMart wrote:His history reads well.....his injury luck doesnt.
94 wins
72 losses
5 finals series in 8 years
Never had thw best list in the AFL
As has been pointed out he was a leader in sports science several years back but i think he failed to evolve as a coach as other teams developed there injury management and strategies.

Tough job being a coach...they know it most likely will end in tears when they take the job on......wouldn't make it any easier though......
On ya bike Neil...watch out they don't kick out a few of your spokes as you ride out of Westlakes....

How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?
Wtf has a sports science degree got to do with
Davis popping a shoulder ....or any other afl collision injury.
Even soft tissue injuries have little to do with condition and more to do with occasion....
The guy played 320 games in The sanfl
A dozen state of origon games
Captained sth aust
Captained premierships in the sanfl
Coached in sa with success
And had a 60% afl coaching record
He knew his stuff....was a great speaker, a measured man and a solid tactician
He is highly respected by our current coach

I think bringing Davis back waaay too early smacked of the kind of desperation that, I think, makes walking seem like a good decision. He is obviously at a loss with how to develop their current bunch and appease the local Neanderthals. You're on a hiding to nothing being an Adelaide coach...just ask Robert Shaw!BigMart wrote:Wtf has a sports science degree got to do with

So thats how your judging his ability as a coach? So in your opinion Ross Lyon must be a useless coach as well? At the end of every season there's 1 good coach and 15 duds?
I think with the list he had over his time he did quite well with them
Get it right. 16 duds.Winmar7Fan wrote:saintspremiers wrote:How many flags or GF's did he deliver?saint66au wrote:Its threads like this that really do the credibilty of this place the world of good..not
