The cost of the paper is insignificant. The publisher makes the bulk of their money from advertising. It would be far more effective to make it known to those who pay for advertising in the paper that you intend to avoid the advertiser's product by virtue of their patronage of the paper.
After reserving my judgement as to whether the stories in the paper are biased against the Saints, I have formed the viewed that it IS clearly the case. I now intend to start to their advertisers know when the opportunity arises and is appropriate.....eg "I saw your product advertised in the HS.....thats why I'm going to buy X from your competitor down the road. (and tell my friends to do the same)"
......if we ALL started doing this it would be hugely damaging over time. Remember strength in unity !!!!

I've traveled a bit, and I watch and read news from many sources.plugger66 wrote:How do you know?Leo.J wrote:Haven't bought the HS for myself for nearly 5 years... but each to their own.
If you read it and considerer it a balanced view of the world good luck to you.
If you do, you might need to get out more, and if you can't or are lazy watch the ABC or SBS for a while.
So you still do read the Herald Sun obviously.Leo.J wrote:I've traveled a bit, and I watch and read news from many sources.plugger66 wrote:How do you know?Leo.J wrote:Haven't bought the HS for myself for nearly 5 years... but each to their own.

The filthy Herald Sun are at it again today! These mongrels are most certainly targeting the Saints! Any sniff of anything, proven or not, and it makes a two-page spread!!
These bastard reporters are already to blame for the Milne and Montagna label! They've also helped single-handedly in dragging Riewoldts name through the mud!
Poor journalists, poor articles, poor form! I've just cancelled my paper order.

When they created LENNY HAYES (in the shadow of Harvs) they forgot to break the mold (again)- hence the Supremely Incredible Jack Steven!!

Too flamin' right St Trav, according to The Worst Orstralyun, there are only two ken teams in the competition and any other team is only mentioned if they have West Australians playing for them. TV and radio is not much better either. They only interview opposing players if that particular team is playing the dongers or wet toast soon. Thank god for the internet and torrents.

Nice idea in principle Enrico. Back in the nineties the Sun (UK tabloid tripesheet) published a disgraceful attack on Liverpool supporters only days after the Hillsborough disaster when 95 supporters lost their life. The Liverpool football club boycotted the paper's reporters, and later on Graeme Souness the coach landed himself in hot water with the fans by contributing an article/statement to the rag. Personally I hate the herald sun with a vengeance, and express my hatred by not purchasing/reading the damn thing! I would advise others to do the same, bearing in mind of course that folk can read any paper they wish to (even one that attacks us as a club)
St Kilda forever ( God help me)

Yep we have no major sponsor so lets not have the biggest paper in Australia have an access to us. Do people think before they type or does all sensibility just go out of their brain because a paper chooses to write things that some on here dont like.Enrico_Misso wrote:Why don't we retaliate and refuse them access to our players for interviews to the HeraldSCUM?
Next we should ban channel 7 filming our games if they take pot shots at us. Anyway isnt there a 6 page thread on C wilson article saying it is a disgrace. Do we now ban the Age as well. We would really get a reputation as a grown up club. Luckily the people running our club have an idea.

Banning a paper or a TV station from interviewing people is NOT the same as banning them from covering or televising us.plugger66 wrote:Yep we have no major sponsor so lets not have the biggest paper in Australia have an access to us. You should think before you type!
Or if we think an individual journalist, say Caroline Wilson, has been exceptionally unfair we exclude her from interviews as opposed to the the all journalists from The Age.
It sends messages
To the offending journalists - that they are biaised or shoddy in their research
To the AFL community - to not believe the things that have been written and look a bit further to find the truth
To our fans - that we are not prepared to be bullied by irresponsible journalists and have taken a stand
Good messages about integrity and what we stand for.
Our sponsors would also be happy to endorse a strong club that stands up for itself.
The rest of Australia can wander mask-free, socialise, eat out, no curfews, no zoning, no police rings of steel, no illogical inconsistent rules.
They can even WATCH LIVE FOOTY!

Yep that worked great last time we basically didnt let people be interviewed. Lets tell the herald sun, the Age and all TV stations that if they write anything bad about us then they cant interview any of our players. There goes Friday night footy and here come Fox TV. And the papers will be real accommodating to us as well. It should be great when it is our turn at the bottom of the ladder. Imagine the positive press.Enrico_Misso wrote:Banning a paper or a TV station from interviewing people is NOT the same as banning them from covering or televising us.plugger66 wrote:Yep we have no major sponsor so lets not have the biggest paper in Australia have an access to us. If you honestly think sponsors and most sensible supporters would be happy with that well I really do wonder and wonder a lot. Please think before you type and then think again and again and then maybe dont type.
