I agree with you to an extent - but Roo managed to garner a very good deal for himself - and nobody would begrudge him that. What if he had said though, 'you are offering me close to a mill a year, but I will accept $700k a year so that we can pay our other stars fairly?' That would be truly generous of him. He complained what Karmichael Hunt is getting paid and used Lenny as an exampleof a bloke who is underpaid - however what he didn't realise by his remarks is that HE is indirectly responsible for Lenny being underpaid.saint75 wrote:Didn't expect to hear him say anything differently. What can you say once the decision was made? Thought he handled himself quite well. That is not the point.chook23 wrote:What did you expect him to say?
Handled himself very well
more proud?? of ours......................hmm
just glad it is not one of ours
Given the offer
The point of this thread is that OUR players, Roo in particular, chose loyalty and love of this club over any other incentives. Roo was the one in their sights initially but he put a very quick end to that speculation.
I realise that there are always going to be players that move on through their choice or the clubs. That is a fact of life. However, a player of the calibre of Ablett and the ties and the history of his family at the club would make it all the harder to swallow.
Not bagging Roo, just offering another point of view on the matter. Very easy to be loyal when you are the highest paid is all I'm saying. And Roo deserves to be highest paid.
