Sam's role is that of a comedian and he is one of those people who you either love or hate. Some people get it and some don't (much like Norman Gunston, Jim Carrey, Borat etc).

I know people who despise him and others who wouldn't even watch the footy show if he wasn't on it. I'm one of the latter and thought his performance last night was hilarious.

But I won't bag those who hate him so long as those same people don't rubbish me for liking him.

I'm amazed at would-be intellectual snobs who say "Oh no i don't watch the Footy Show anymore...". I think some of them secretly watch it.

The Marngrook show has been good when I've watched it. I like Gilbert McAdam. One indigenous ex-player who MUST be on TV is David Wirrpunda. I saw him on "Before the Game" a couple of years ago and he was a real natural...bright, intelligent and funny. The most amusing thing was how obvious it was that the hack comedians like Lemo and Hughesie were SOOOO jealous of all the attention he was getting from Sam Lane and the studio audience so they and the host (I think it was Radar) kept cutting him off with their not-so-funny jokes! It was pathetic.

PS a mate of mine said last Saturday Hughsie was making jokes about Riewoldt's injury. What a tool.

In honour of those who went before, in the dark and desperate years.

interestingly he - Sam- never once noted that James Brayshaws watch was just as big
which probaably makes the below statement correct. but good on BJ for taking it the right way and then asking for anyone who knew of another one the same..

TBH I don't think that it would have been at all relaxing for him, I think it would have been pretty embarassing.

It was all set up before, I'm just not sure if they gave BJ the watch and bracelet or whether he wore it to the meeting and they told him to make sure he brings them again.

Really not at all a fan of these pointless trends, if it's not pieces of string, it's pieces of rubber, but my family consider me to be the world's youngest grumpy old man so I'm sure I'm in the minority as usual

I only watched a short bit of TFS, but I did notice BJ was sitting in the middle seat. Wonder if that will be a good omen again this season? :D

I really enjoyed Jude Bolton on the show too. He seemed bright and cheerful and gave more than the cliched answers.

I don't think it's about relaxing him...

Sam quite often tries to outshine someone who is shining brighter 8-)
