I still find it strange Ball was offered a 3 yr contract .....though we dont know the content (of course) . Irrelevant now anyway.

It seems the assessment of Ball ( by the Saints ) is that he will never get back to being the player we need for the future . So its bye bye BALL.

The sooner its over and done with the better.......
Greg Denham said on SEN this morning that RL made a new offer to LB in their meeting before the draft deadline, which Ball rejected. That would explain why Ross when he came out and was interviewed he said the contract was now off the table.
Well then F*** off!
Im pretty sure he wants to.

Now, I wonder where Greg Denham got this info from. He seems to be very good friends with a Mr Connors  !!

NEW scarf signature (hopefully with correct spelling) will be here as soon as it arrives !!

But Richmond and Port
http://www.foxsports.com.au/story/0,865 ... 11,00.html
has he actually done this...
Ball - famously taken at pick one ahead of Luke Hodge and Chris Judd in the 2001 national draft - has walked out on the Saints after failing to secure a move to Collingwood in the trade period.
last official word was he was still considering..............

BUt none are offering to take him first pick. :( sad for Luke to come to this.

As far as I remember, Hodge went at Pick #1, Ball at #2.

I may be wrong on this one, but I don't think so.

I get the feeling that what they said in the first instance is most likely to be the truth (that they wouldn't use any of their first 4 picks on him.) I reckon that they might have realised that they let the "cat out of the bag" by saying so, though, which is why they then came out the next day and said they could even use their no.11 pick to get him, which I highly doubt is true. I think that's about as true as them denying "tanking" at all this year.
It would have been music to other club's ears to have heard what they said the first day (especially Collingwood's) and they might have then been thinking they'd do all they could to convince Luke to enter the National Draft. Melbourne probably then realised that they'd "showed their hand" and what they said on the second day was probably "damage control", to try and get those other clubs to lose interest and not convince him to enter the National draft.

Melbourne and Richmond are not such bad moves for Luke, when you consider what it is he is aspiring to...

Correct, and Chris Judd went at 3, Graham Polak went at 4, Xavier Clarke went at 5, Ashley Sampi went at 6, David Hale went at 7 and Jimmy Bartel went at 8.

What did we get.
