I posted this on the "Fev to Lions" thread, but it seems appropriate here too:

Do those who are bagging this deal even know who Henderson is? The wraps on him are very big (like his body) and he's already played 18 games, despite getting injured this year and only being 19. He was picked in the top 10 a couple of years ago and looks the goods. Not many as big as him play 18 games before they turn 20, especially when they also miss through injury. I reckon Carlton would be very happy.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lachlan_Henderson
The thing is he is a speculative pick up....does not have runs on the board as yet and nothing to really hang his hat on. He MAY develop nicely, and he may not. Pick 12...who knows?

So who do the Blues kick to next year. Kruezer is a ruckman...not a forward. I don't think Carlton could be very happy with the deal...they have lost 80-100 goals out of this, and there isn't anything to suggest there is another avenue to getting them back.
Nick Riewoldt was also a "speculative pick up", as was Chris Judd and actually everyone who's ever been recruited to a footy club. There are no guarantees and Henderson is no different, but he looks damn good and I believe we were going to draft him, had Brisbane not gotten him with pick 8. We wanted someone to play ruck, but believed Henderson was so good he was worth picking anyway.
As I said, Brisbane look to have won out short term, but Carlton are obviously looking longer term, as they probably ought to, having so many gun young guys on their list. They don't have to win it next year and probably accepted that as soon as they chose to offload Fev.
This could be like when we got Dal Santo for the draft pick Sydney gave us for Hall, or not, either way, I don't really give a s***.

The Blues would wanna hope so...if he doesn't, I feel their supporters have their own 'Raph Clarke'.
?????? What a dill of a comment.

Is it? Looks like a pretty sound statement to me, also backed up by another poster below.

Congrats on trying to hijack a thread on Fev/Henderson & turn it into a Raph bash session.

It's just a sh1tty, useless comment to make. Just because someone else agrees with your insightfully lame post doesn't make it sound or otherwise.

By all means say Blues supporters will be spewing if he doesn't turn out to be a very good player... bringing Raph into it is just childish BS.

 I think you need to read between the lines.

Raph = whipping boy (whther you like it or not). If Henderson can't turn it on immediately (taking into account the Blues 'are coming'), he will most likely be their whipping boy. Geddit?

Doesn't pay to be too kryptic on here sometimes.

fair enough mate... totally understand the whipping boy bit.

I'm just so over every thread having a Raph reference to it.

I take back my terse words.

two more morons "ripping up their mebership? :D :D

Lance or James??

There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Over the past three years, I have been subjected to a <redacted>investigation followed by <redacted> witch hunt. The toll this has taken on my family, and my work for <redacted>and on me leads me to where I am today – finished with this nonsense. (Oops just got a spontaneous errection <unredacted>)

I'm happy to start a bonfire out the front of MC Labour Park for the Cheat supporters to chuck the membership cards in though. With a bit of luck a wind shift will drive the fire straight through the house of the brown bag.

I don't envy Henderson in his position if it doesn't come together quick...as I don't envy Raph being thrown to the lions by our moron supporter contingent every time something happens in his general vicinity. It's still my belief that the Blues have a high percentage of moron supporters than us, and they already think they should have won a premiership this year...you'd think there'd be no patience for a 2010 forward line rebuild.

I share your belief.

I know Tiger supporters cop it for turning on their own but IMO Blues supporters are in a league of their own in that regard.

Poor Lachie is in the Devil's Den now...

Only the DUMB ones.

It is agood deal for Blues IMO given that they had decisded to offload the Fev.

Remember that Fev had a HUGE salary...and that Lions evidently are now paying all of his contract.
Great deal for the lions...

Henderson can slot in quite nicely at CHB, put Waite and Kreuzer up front and they have a very promising spine....

Jamison
Henderson
Hampson
Waite
Kreuzer...
