King's situation is horrible, its unbelieveable that he can stil play top level sport being so badly hurt.OLB wrote:Different sport but there are early similarities between Riewoldt and Tottenham's captain Ledley King who's almost 29 now.
King has had chronic knee problems throughout his career and is currently being "managed" in the same way. I just hope Roo's knee doesn't deteriorate to the same extent.
It is said that King's knee swells up so badly after a game that it takes a week for the swelling to go down therefore he is limited to cycling work between games - no running whatsoever. He has a short half hour session the day before a game and even then must ice his knee such is the swelling.

A week doesn't go by it seems without seeing Riewoldt limping. It may not be a major concern now but hopefully something like that doesn't affect him long-term. Such a great player who can become even better, terrible to think that an injury could prevent him from being the best footballer he could possibly be.
Know anything about knee-cartilage transplants?ausfatcat wrote:OLB wrote:With King's knee there's very little cartilage so apparently there's no cure because there's nothing to operate on. The joint's deterioration is so bad that it is basically just bone on bone now.
Voss and Mcleod have/had this as well. It's actually fairly common but to varying degrees, the swelling and pain can be managed on match day with pain killers and lubricant injections into the joints, Hamill also had a very very bad case of this amongst other knee problems.
Amazing in this thread alone we have several diagnosis of Roo's knees.
And as good as he has been, it's still a travesty to think that we'll never know how good he could have been.fonz_#15 wrote:King's situation is horrible, its unbelieveable that he can stil play top level sport being so badly hurt.OLB wrote:Different sport but there are early similarities between Riewoldt and Tottenham's captain Ledley King who's almost 29 now.

No need to fight here fellas its a great day!kp83 wrote:Maybe I should clarify. What I'm not too thrilled about is people making incorrect medical statements when they don't have the knowledge.
