I remember an interview with GT in about 2004/2005, and was asked who would be most likely to coach from that group.

His answer - Fraser Gehrig.....

Jason Blake
Craig Bolton
Troy Chaplin
Josh Gibson
Stephen Gilham
Ryan Hargrave
Tom Harley
Adam Hunter
Luke McPharlin
Adam McPhee
Nick Maxwell
Chris Newman
Joel Patful
Ben Rutten
Bret Thornton
Paul Wheatley

And a list of players who will almost certainly never coach an AFL game as long as they live:

Gary Ablett
Peter Burgoyne
Brett Burton
Stuart Dew
Aaron Edwards
Brendan Fevola
Chad Fletcher
Barry Hall
Des Headland
Jordan McMahon
Steven Milne
Will Minson
Russell Robertson
Anthony Rocca
Justin Sherman
Jobe Watson <- sounds waaaaaaaaaaay too much like his dad

He was my first thought at st.Kilda too. Really rallies the back line and sets the match ups from what I can tell. I would think he would be the backline leader atm. Especially with no max there.

Good call re Judd.

For most of his career he's had to force himself to watch a game of footy.

He's said that this year he tries to watch as much as he can but I get the feel he has no love for the game itself, he just loves playing.

It's mostly your real footy-tragics that end up in the coaches box. The blokes who just can't get enough of it. Like Ross Lyon.
