I believe it goes back a number of years (2004?) when Sheedy publicly made a point of it.
It was a line he threw out before a game as a piece of 'reverse psychology' and it's stuck ever since. I don't think it actually has any factual basis.
Would that be the same Kevin Sheety whose defender kept kneeing Aaron Hamill in the back of the leg trying to give him a corky whilst the umpire watched on, hoping that Hamill would throw a punch.
The MRP of course took no action against the defender.
