Its his second game back after a Knee , he will be very much required against the Cats smaller forwards come finals time , thats why i said the only certain starter is blake , Im sure you can work the rest out .borderbarry wrote:I would have thought that Dempster was in line to be first dropped after last night. He proved he is no forward. And I cant see anyone making way for him on the defence.
Who will be omitted

Great plan, except that Dempster isn't as much of a rebounding defender as even Stephen King.SaintBot wrote:These are the changes that will probably be made in the remaining rounds prior to finals:
In: J.Koschitzke, M.Gardiner, L.Ball, Z.Dawson
Out: J.Gwilt, B.McEvoy, R.Eddy, R.Clarke
With Dempster going into the back into the backline in Raph's roll as another rebounding defender.
Seriously, am I missing something with this guy? Every time I have ever seen him play, he is a shutdown merchant who does a great job sticking to his opponent like flypaper.
Last night, Raph broke lines, spun out of tackles, set up plays inside the forward 50. I have watched probably 75% of all Dempster's AFL career, and I don't recall him ever breaking a line.
Which games did I miss when he played like Raph/Gilbert/etc?

If Gardiner is fit then McEvoy out, but he is very stiff IMO ... thought Big Ben was fantastic last night.
Also Gwilt out if Kosi is fit ... Gwilt was solid in the first half but didn't get near it after that, and Kosi is obviously the superior player.
Eddy also under pressure from Geary/Ball, but will only lose his spot if the others perform today in the VFL.
IMO:
OUT - Gwilt, McEvoy
IN - Kosi, Gardiner

I think Lyon is trying to develop Dempster into that "missing" medium forward.....SaintBot wrote:These are the changes that will probably be made in the remaining rounds prior to finals:

Last night if Dempster had kicked straight he could have slotted three..
In the scheme of things Dempster has played very few games of footy...so with another 5 under his bely will be much better.
Raph is just starting to cook....so being a selector during the finals is going to be agonising stuff....and some poor bugga/ will be left out despite being worthy.

agree. his worst is bad, but his plus side is better than most. he's making it hard to leave him out.saintsRrising wrote:Raph is just starting to cook.
yeah, it's agonising enough just being a fan on here and we're not held accountable for the decisions. we provide only opinion.saintsRrising wrote:being a selector during the fainls is going to be agonising stuff
in their favour, they've hardly pulled the wrong rein this season.
Eddy is first in line to get cut... He struggles at the top level and doesnt have weapons that can make him impact a game...
Gwilt is far better suited to the forward flank role they both played last night... Gwilt has a lethal left foot and is a much better footballer than Eddy... Gwilt was ok-good last night imo...
MG is walk up, so it seems BigMac will get the chop... But he has a huge future, and IMO in the past fortnight has overtaken King... Come finals time, Kings big body and experience will probably get him the nod...
Zac MUST come in... He has been a revalation this year... I have him ahead of Max...
