I have never quoted you once, until now. If you identify yourself with a general comment that is NOT a personal attack. If you quote someone and then criticise them then that is a personal attack. It's English 101, and that's a personal attack.
If you take that as an attack mate, then I alpologise. I am not sorry for anything that I have posted and I am not sorry for directing it at you as it was you that I was aimimg my posts at. I am sorry though that you cannot have an intelligent football debate by providing any evidence of your view point. Instead resorting to calling those who disagree idots and morons. After reading your last post though I can see that you were actually "identifying yourself".

Max was on the shortlist last year, so clearly he was thought to be thereabouts. IMO he should have been in the team but the selectors caught a bit of Scarlett fever. He was also robbed in 2006 when the selectors decided that Darren Glass was great even though he conceded a lot of goals from not a lot of opportunities. Oddly enough, I think Glass has been excellent this year without the aid of a dominant midfield keeping the ball outside defensive fifty. Max' lack of rebound might not help, but it hasn't stopped them from naming other players.
On the actual thread topic, Dawson's name deserves a mention. I don't think he'd be in the team, but his performance can't be ignored. Similar to Glass in 06 though, he's been aided by a dominant team up the ground. He hasn't done too much wrong, but neither have guys like Bolton, Glass, Merrett or Scarlett. Dawson is up around the top in spoils, although he's a little behind in terms of contested marks and rebounding. I don't disagree with anyone who says Dawson has been a revelation. I don't think we have too many people wondering who Max' successor will be anymore.
Phttt. It's a non argument. He's finished and Zac's starting. The only thing we don't know about him is how he will react under severe pressure, and perhaps we will get some guide on Sunday. However, the sooner people embraced our new team, the winners, the better. It took me three quarters of our first game to realise that we had changed completely. I watched the third quarter of the game against the Swans and could hardly believe it. Since then the conversion has been completed.
Did anybody else notice Zac's 'matrix move' in the third quarter?
Where he had the ball in his hands and he avoided the Collingwood players by twisting his head and shoulders. They went flying past him like he wasn't there.
I cannot believe this thread!!!!!!
We are 7-0 on top of the ladder with the best % since 1911, or something and some people or person is potting, now that Banger is gone, the greatest club man we have. The poor bloke has been injured and will come back into the team when ready. I am loving the way Zac is playing but I think even he would admit that Maxy is a better fb atm. Zac may well be a champion in 10 years but at the moment Max is infront. If Max can't come up for some reason then he is going to be a great replacement.
Much as I love Max because he bleeds for this club.
Our back six have been absolutely superb this year.
Conceding just 54 points a game is almost unheard of.
If it's working - then don't change it.
Sorry Max, but you are going to have to wait for an injury or form loss to get back.

Zac is doing a great job but to slate him for AA honours is stretching it. Anyone at St.Kilda FC or any supporter who has been paying even a little bit of attention will tell you that individual performances come second to doing your job in the team. Zac is doing his job as part of a very effective defensive unit. Great. But it's a bit early to be holding him up as the AA full-back. Needs to do what he's doing for a lot longer to earn an honour like that.
On other things in this thread - I'm amazed that anyone could consider Zac a better player than Max. Max is the best full-back in the competition - no exceptions. Should have been AA last year and if St.Kilda had been stronger last year he would have been.
And Perfectionist, you win this month's award for the biggest pot kettle black post with the following :
"The clowns who support "Max" yet again resort to personal attack. It proves the point - morons can't learn. "
You've managed to double insult anyone who disagrees with your POV whilst at the same time claiming they have no argument and are the ones resorting to personal attack.
Black pot stamp in the exercise book for you.
this thread is a joke
Zac is playing good footy but he is nowhere near the player maxy is Maxy will be back.
it's good to know that we have Zac ready to take over when maxy is gone.
BUT DO NOT DIS THE MAX FACTOR HE IS AS LOYAL AS THEY COME

For the record...the thread was tongue in cheek. I was imagining the headline at the end of the year from rookie to all-Australian...be a great story.
Now Banger has retired Max is my favourite player....but its pretty hard to drop Dawson when the back 6 are so settled...interesting to see how Lyon handles that one.

Good point. Geelong should have played Harley in the ressies for a while cos they are winning every week..prolly give G Ablett a run there too when he comes back, dont wanna upset team balance. Ottens will play for the twos when he comes back cos that Mumford is the ruck future of the Club

Let us bow our heads and give thanks that we have a young backman in the Zac who is playing great footy, and an experienced proven backman who is in the wings. I think with Max's injury issues (which are not going to improve with age), he could still easily be played off the bench this year -what a bonus.
