Funny you should say that - Osama was the secret specialist ruck coach for a few weeks in 2003 after he promised to unleash weapons of ruck destruction at stoppages. We keen followers never saw any sight of those.

Here's a shot I took at training where he was showing Cain Ackland how to "hit out to advantage", a little phrase OBL coined when he was at the club.

The whole hit out thing never caught on during the GT years. Osama got exited quite early on after we missed the finals.

Don't tell me the old bat is making things up again? Gee wonder why?  GT showed her for what she is-a liar and completely worthless and now she wants her revenge. Even for her, the lack of professionalism is quite astounding, though not the least bit surprising.

I am confused how GT is doing things wrong in the RB V Blighty arguement. Started by RB then GT is asked a question on a radio show and answers it then Blighty has a go at the Saints and Ex President then Caro has her say.

So are we saying GT should not have answered a question. I cannot beleive the agendas of some on here. The same some who said he will not get his $100,000 because he definately slagged off the club and broke his contract about not saying negative things about the club.

What did the court find in that?

Why is every thread evn if we discuss an ex bootstudder go back to GT is at fault.

Let me try and help you Plugger66.
Mike Sheahan interviewed Rb about teh Blight Sacking. It appeared in Saturday's Herals Sun.
Blight responded on Ch 10 Saturday Night.
On Saturday, prior to Blight's response, GT was asked on SEN about the sacking. Apparently he made comment along the lines of (I didn't hear it directly) that he was 'the last to know about it' (the Blight sacking).

Since then some have questioned the VERACITY (truth) of that comment ('I was the last to know')
Last night on Footy Classified Caroline Wilson (the chief Football Writer for The Age) stated certain things that questioned the VERACITY (truth) of Gt's comment ('I was the last to know'). Further she stated that 'GT threatened to resign as Chairman of Selectors unless Blight was sacked.'
And that 'Grant was telling Porky Pies in this matter'.

I hope that clears it up for you?

GT was more specific than 'I was the last to know'.

He explained he was called to a meeting at the Flower Drum where board members (didn't specify which other than RB), Watts, Waldron & interestingly Ron Joseph were in attendance.

When he got there he was told the news.

It would be pretty easy for GT to be shown up if he was lying. He named enough people in his account that if he's lying they can discredit him.

We'll see I guess.

But I suspect that the haters will continue to believe gossip and innuendo despite any evidence to the contrary.

Prove to all of us that GT is right and Caro is wrong, or is this just your agenda?

How about posting on footy related stuff rather than always just defending GT.

I don't really see why he would lie about it, but I find it hard to believe he played no part, and very hard to believe he didn't know.... we'll see.

I thought Archer looked pretty meek actually, and that he bottled it.... yes he would have preferred to just smash Nixon no doubt, but he doesn't have that option these days, and Nixon seems like a man who never blinks first.

In this sort of forum Caro has bigger balls and more of an arsenal than poor old Arch.

Ricky nixon would fight Glenn Archer.

Don't know whether he'd win or not, but he has been known to get into punch ons in his own office!

The onus of proof is the person on the receiving end of such an accusation?

Interesting.

IMO if Caro's going to be calling someone a liar then the obligation is on her to prove what she's saying.

As I said earlier, GT was very specific about where, when & who was there. Shouldn't be too hard for her to get a quote from one of those people where they discredit GT's account. I'm sure she'd at least still have Rod's number.

If find it incredible that her like many here can turn this into a GT issue.

Rod was the one that put this issue into the press.

Rod was the one that ultimately sacked Blight.

Rod was the one that loaned a million bucks to a bloke only days after the Blight sacking and then gave him the job as coach.

Rod was the one that later sacked that coach and within days had legal action instigated to get his money back.

Rod was the one that over-compensated that coach and offered the $100K hush money (which my guess was done without approval of the board).

Rod has brought nothing than ridicule to this club.

Despite all that, some choose to blame GT for every bit of bad press this club gets. Including Caro.

It's staggering the hate a bloke that turned us from a rabble to a respected opponent can generate.

Staggering.

He might be a prick but at least he was doing his job!

Don't doubt it, and it wouldn't surprise me.

But Arch seems about as effective and comfortable on the show as Caro would be playing for Richmond.

Who 'hates' him?

I liken it to a husband who raises a family then leaves, and a messy divorce ensues... you have to reconcile all that he gave to the family against all that he took.

He didn't leave. He was thrown out.

Anyhow, of course there's going to be people with varying views on the bloke - but almost two years after he was given the arse we don't go a day and hardly a thread where the same-old bullsh** and innuendo isn't pushed.

What's kind of interesting from a saintsational point-of-view in a really unimportant story is the reaction of posters to two ss vilified media personalities.

Many here are all but dismissive of Caroline Wilson. Many here are almost reflecively distrustful of Grant Thomas (to put both cases mildly). It's interesting to see the reaction to what amounts to gossip that puts the two at polar ends of the spectrum in terms of what they say happened.

Honestly, I hope it ends here, no need to dig up past so that 2 people not involved with the club right now can settle a score. Unfortunately that doesn't really seem to be the modus operandi for either... and certainly not for a media (that as CW correctly observed) is having a big year for "journo on journo action".

So let's settle back and make up some popcorn.

I don't even think B4E 'hates' him... as for leave/thrown out, it amounts to the same thing, reconciling contribution and cost (most have, some don't like the prevailing view) ......I'll be happy when his name is rarely mentioned.

Player Managers! Nixon, Kelly et al are the leeches on modern day football.

They take 10-15-20% and provide nothing to the game. The million or so taken out of each club's salary cap should be spend in more productive means rather than expensive Italian curling wands to keep Ricky's hair in tight spirals.

I take your point but I'm not sure your fee figure of 10-20% is correct.

My understanding is that the fee is more like 4-5% of the player's contract and a bigger fee from any marketing money they manage.

The truth is that most players were/are incapable of looking after their own contract negotiations and 'looking after their money' and if left to fend for themselves would have been 'screwed' by the Clubs.

We went through the phasses of the players doing their own,
then letting their parents do it for them,
then getting accountants/solicitors doing it for them,
and now professional managers handling it.

I think Stinger has got it in one here.

GT might have been the last to know, but he was first in line undermining Blight.

My take on this...

The waters have been so muddied ever since GT got the job with so much spin, back stabbing and innuendo, that's it's almost impossible to draw any conclusion.

Caro stated for years that she knew GT's appointment was a sham, and she has been vindicated ever since. Yet some will attack her with her "anti saints" conspirancy theories.

Until the facts are made piblic in an honest way, we'll all be like a duck with one foot nailed to the floor...

walking around in circles :D
