More reason to loosen that loose shoulder of his, early !!HarveysDeciple wrote:Franklin hasn't had less then 6 shots at goal in a game this year.
So the bottom line is he still gets the footy in dangerous positions no matter who is on him.
You just have to make sure it's closer to 6 then 12 shots, and that you push him into difficult positions
Match Ups this week !!

Hudghton - Roughead (Definite)
Blake - Franklin
Gilbert - Williams
McQualter - Mitchell (most influentual player. must be stopped)
Gram - Hodge (maybe most damaging but i am starting not to rate that highly)
Dempster - Riolli
This is what i think they will do
Croad- Kosi
Brown - Roo
Sewell - Dal Santo
Crawf - Harvs (this seems highly likely if Crawf plays)
Haven't really looked at their small defenders to see who might get Milne
They will try and get Lewis and Mitchell to go head to head with Ball and Hayes.
May try to play Hodge behind the ball. Means we need to use his man as much as possible.

i would worry about Maxy's hammies if he plays on Buddy. I would hate to see Maxy pop a hammy at this time of year. Would rather see Maxy v Roughead. Wouldnt mind seeing Gilbo have a crack at Buddy, if that is not working then Blakey and Gilbo on Williams. Keep BJ and Fish on the half back line regardless of who they play there.
BJ has arrived!!!!!!!!!!

Max on Willow ( Willow can be very dangerous if you dont cover him)Eastern wrote:Max - Buddy
Blakey - Roughead

Thoughts? !!
Gilbert on Buddy (time to put the onus on Gilbert)
Sam on Roughhead (counter attack run)
Gilbert will get Williams.....he is a leading marking fwd and needs a tall quick opponent.
Max/Blake to get Buddy/Roughie.....they have been getting the two fwds every week....
Sam will play HB and drop off there HF if they go high and zone in front of Buddy/Roughie....
BJ will do the same as Sam at HB....
Their inside mids will not be tagged, no point.....Sam will have a head to head with Ball/Harves..Sewell will take Hayes or Dal and Lewis will get either Hayes or Dal
Gram/Armo/Harvey/Fiora/Schnieder will rotate through the midfield....and Goddard and Sam will pinch hit
McQualter will possibly get young Junior (ala Murphy) and work the young bloke over
Hodge is the most damaging player.....he will need a biggish opponent with a strong endurance base and discipline.....Dempster
Bateman may go head to head with Joey or Joey may be asked to do a job on him..

All fair enough, but I would like Max to take Roughie and shut him right out, and leave Blake and Sam/BJ dropping in front to limit him to around 4 or 5. If this eventuates we are a chance.BigMart wrote:Gilbert will get Williams.....he is a leading marking fwd and needs a tall quick opponent.

I reckon this game would have been a good one for Birss to play as a defensive forward on Guerra or Birchall....
Dempster is our best bet for Hodge with Bakes out, but its a much harder tag than Stevens was last week, Hodge loves the attention...
