who would u pick out of Cousins or Tarrant?

also who else is out of contract off other clubs this year?
Brown is out of contract so we should try and get him. I would get Tarrent before cousins as Tarrant has a lot more ability. I think Ablett may be out of contract as well so we should go after him. We have a connection as his Uncle played with us. Also Bartell as well. Also a connection there. We have a bar at the club and we never tell.

not saying we should pick him up in fact i think it would be a terrible idea to pick a below par forward in a trade . my question is what team would go for him ? bullys are always on the look for a key forward but i cant see that , the Dee's maybe with neitz retiring ?

As you say Trav, some are always on the lookout for a key forward, so they wont be looking at Tarrant.

Freo have dug their own grave. Recruiting has been crap because they always go for the recycled player.

Chris Tarrant
Dean Solomon
Mark Johnson

And that's just the last season and a bit.

The Trent Croad debacle.

Their record of players leaving and then thriving is also horrific:
James Clement
Brodie Holland
Paul Medhurst
Peter Bell (first time around)
Adam McPhee
Winston Abraham (one for the older readers)
Andrew McLeod (traded for Chris Groom. Who?)
Matthew Burton
Jeff White
Troy Longmuir (okay stretching it, but he played some decent footy for the Preston Bullants)

Pity we never got any good ones....Mark Gale, Craig Callaghan, Gavin Mitchell, Tony Delaney.....

For the right price, of course.

The amount of people on here who would have rejected King or Gardiner would be close to 100%.

But they don't look like bad pick-ups for the price we paid.

It's all about value.

Clueless and mediocre petty tyrant.

i reckon he'd be a good bet to end up at Melbourne, if that team doesn't have a tonne of salary cap space i'd be suprised.

Gardiner, yes, was absolutely bagging him. Jury's still out there.
Always thought King was worth a punt. Premiership ruckman, only 29 and cost nothing.

Would not now geta high price.

king and gardiner are yet to play a dozen games between them I think.

time will tell whether they were worth the investment.

last years ruckman matty clarke is gone already, not sure if he turned out for 10 games or not.

Charlie Gardiner is capable of doing anything Tarrant has ever done, or anything Tarran will do in the future, the blokes not worth the time of day, can't learn a lesson now at his scond club...

Lets see..

Take away Birrs....so that is King, Gadi and Gardiner for half of pick 43...

i think the comment regarding players in the past has been list fillers?

birss is hard at it, but his skills are mcgough like, I can't see a long term future for him in the seniors unless we are blighted by injuries, i would think being spanked in form by mini is an indictment.
king, will we get a dozen games out of him?
clarke, did we get a dozen games out of him?
gardiner, see king
Charlie gardiner, well schwarz like in ability, but he cooked his own goose when he held out for more money.

I think taking players for the sake of taking players is pointless. with the gold in FG, hammil came a whole heap of ordinary talent and well dross with blight, with gale and callaghan who suffered shocking injuries.

IMO you take the long term punt (VR, Brooks) and it doesn't pan out, you get paid out on, you take the short term punt (crapuano, doc clarke, gardiner, king) it doesn't pan out, you get paid out.

that said at 28 there is still time for gardiner and king to do something positive for st kilda.

20/20 hindsight is a wonderful thing.

Wouldn't take him for free. Old, inconsistent, uncommited and wouldn't fit into our forward line.

Monkhurst and Francis were bad enough. Please no more. Tarrant is not going to give us anything we need.

We just wouldn't want cancers like that at the club.
