I am attracted to that behavioural economics thing, do the hard yards, improve, play well = ongoing contract and wealthy life style. Otherwise no more contract. Applies to all playing and non playing employees. Hence so many off field changes.
The Saints are coming.......

We have culture because we have history, a long history
An embarrassing history whenever I think about it

What we don't have is balls, we are not ruthless
We don't stand up for ourselves
We are 1/18 of this competition but we do not act like it

Bassat & Lyon protesting about father/son & northern academies rorts is a start

I’m still pretty sure they gave up draft capital to secure those players

Other clubs bid on them, then you need to match points. You then have to put them in the same cap as everyone else

COLA was stopped a decade ago after the Franklin deal

Obviously now he’s a gun, and a good selection

As was Daniel Kerr (pick 18)

Why wasn’t he bid on earlier?

They got Heeney after playing in a GF and Mills after finishing 5th the next year.

Pretty easy to remain on top getting that leg up.

Then Blakey was just a gift.

But lowly clubs don't help there own cause
The whole world knew that the best pick in 2021 was Nick Daicos then daylight to , Sam Darcy, Jason Horne Francis, Finn Callaghan and Mac Andrew etc
But Daicos was father son to Collingwood and Darcy father son to the Dogs.

North could have kept the draft honest by selecting Daicos, get trumped by Collingwood, select Darcy get trumped by the Dogs, then taken Horne Francis.
Then there would be stink that the father-son system was unfair.

But NO the f-heads at North did not want to be trumped and trumped again.
They wanted their first selection to remain their first pick.
They let Daicos go and took Horne Francis.
Horne Francis did not want to carry a bunch of losers and wanted out.

GWS still with incompetent management, ignored Daicos too, but tested the Dogs over Darcy and got trumped by the Dogs.
GWS again ignored Daicos and took Callaghan.

So Collingwood got 3000 point Daicos for a mere 1,627 points, the remaining 1,373 points is like getting pick 10 as a bonus.
The big club Collingwood got off cheaply because the lower clubs North & GWS were simply gutless, no culture.

Would St Kilda with pick1 have ignored Daicos and Darcy - absolutely.
The culture of Collingwood is "the premiership is a cake walk" the rest of the competition can go rot.

What club could defend what Maynard did.
Collingwood not only defended it but got him off.
St Kilda would have let the AFL give their player a life sentence.

Hawthorn wants to move on to St Kilda's home patch at Moorabbin.
Not even a beep out of gutless St Kilda FC

If it were St Kilda moving in on Hawthorn all hell would have broken loose, the AFL would be forced to intervene.

At St Kilda FC we have a culture of cowardice and acceptance.

Agree that culture is important, but a lot of these companies succeed because they source their raw materials from third world countries, pay no taxes, create overinflated hype about their products, and work to monopolise the market

HEALTHY Culture has been proven to be the number 1 factor of success in any organisation.

Apple, Google, Virgin, Ford, IBM, Coca Cola and on and on ALL have endlessly harped about how culture is the absolute key ingredient to their foundation & ongoing success...

Culture is values, relationships, systems, and sustainability.

Its pretty simple to define yet complex to deploy & maintain.

Culture doesnt mean you dont need great people. Culture is the core that enables anything great to be built.

Watching Sam Mitchell we absolutely see a perfect example of a man bringing healthy culture into an environment. It builds slowly and its effectiveness depends on the organisations willingness to embrace change.

That amount of professional coaches and sporting clubs who espouse culture as the key aspect of their success is mind blowing.

In successful corporations and sporting clubs, the culture or environment is set from the top and driven hard through the ranks. The Saints in contrast, have a history in leadership of instability, in-fighting, tail wagging the dog and knee-jerk decisions which generally results in those below having no real driving force or single focus for success, regardless of ability. As a former successful opposition captain told me a while back, all coaches and players want to be in winning teams and play finals, and do it as soon as possible. If you're in a winning environment, then that's a good culture.

We have been gutted and replaced so many times at board and staff level.

Where does the culture remain? Only in the supporter groups.
