When St Kilda player Paddy Ryder went to the tribunal to challenge a rough conduct charge, he wasn't believed when he said he wasn't trying to cause any injury to his opponent.
He basically stopped and stood still. He didn't create the force that caused Will Day to get whiplash. He didn't do anything careless or intentional or malicious.
He was suspended for 2 weeks anyway
If you watch the footage from the goal to goal camera, you'll see that Ryder doesn't make any head high contact. Ryder makes contact with Day's chest. That's not even a free kick unless you count it as a block.

Re: Dangerous tackle on Sam Walsh
You will go nuts trying to square the circle that is AFL administration.
The management are not clever enough or committed enough or ethical enough to stand up to powerful vested interests.
Time servers in the worst tradition of bureaucracy. Mealy mouthed with it.
With relativity few real chances to go top and a fragmented too long season AFL is bound to decline. Once viewers turn off it will be a rapid fall.
Landmark concussion hearing, where is CEO, on a junket to Tasmania focussing on a club that doesn't exist and concerning himself with the already emerging cost and time over runs.
Need to take care of core matters: even comp, umpiring, judiciary, drugs.

Re: Dangerous tackle on Sam Walsh
It doesn't look like that's happening.
The AFL will prop up the high membership clubs and while they are winning, they will tune in.
