Re: Time trial
Running those times under pressure to perform isn't easy. Takes mental strength as well. I wouldn't be dismissive of the ability to run. You can yell bravo words all day but you have to be the faster runner to actually get possession.

Re: Time trial
Steele and Sinclair were held back for Newnes Weller and Geary and didnt get going till Ratten had influence. .
They were all decent but there was nothing pretty about Ross or Geary.

Re: Time trial
Perhaps you should stop responding to me.
From 2011 till Reiwoldt's and Joey's retirement, we developed one decent leader who made the way to elite status, that was Geary, as a small shut-down defender.
Ross was exciting for a while but by 2019 it was clear he was out of his depth. But still a required player, so he stayed.
Steele was develop in another academy and wasn't recognised.
Marshal and Wilkie came from draft recycling.
Robertson had a career ending condition and also came from another program.
The selection, recruitment, list management and leadership development of our prized draft pick in that period was appalling.

Re: Time trial
Yeah and he made a squad of 30 mifielders for All Australian based on is fitness and numbers. He was exciting and close to elite but not elite beyond the Trevor barker award.
Elite players achieve and maintain the status.
He was close for 3 years. Ratten stopped him from playing injured and inconsistenly and brought him back between his flags. He has bem a great servant of the club.

Re: Time trial
He’s always had a huge engine
Up until they started the yo-yo about 6-7 years ago he jointly held the draft combine beep test record. 16-6
I believe it was David Spriggs he held the record with
I think Josh Kelly and Isaac Smith also we’re around that mark

Re: Time trial
Hill was either injured or taking the piss under Ratten.
He looked overweight, disinterested and was not committed to the contest.
Enter Ross and he has returned to an A grade outside runner, exactly what he was recruited for.
The beauty of an in form Hill is the very nice foot skills that go with the speed endurance game.
There's only one rule in the jungle! When the LYON's hungry, he eats!

Re: Time trial
Yep
Agree with that
He had a spare tyre around his guts first few years
It’s why he couldn’t get a kick on the wing and had to be deployed across HB

Re: Time trial
I disagree.
Hill carried a knee injury through 22 games in 2019 and it was spotted in his medical before we signed him.
He also bulked up in his last two seasons at Freo and lost weight at St.Kilda to take strain off his knee. The hardest place to reduce is the gut but when you tone down bulk he looked fatter. He signed a long term contract with a knee complaint.
His 2020 was cautious. He and Mckenzie missed the first 3 k time tial but both ran top 7 with all the usual suspects when the senior list came in. Phillips and Langlands?? were running elite times and romped it in ahead of Sinclair, Battle and Butler. Mackenzie and Hill lead early and dropped back to 6th and 7th..
Hill doesn't just get the ball given to him and slap it on his boot. He uses his agility to make time and space for those down the field.
A knee injury will effect this greatly. It became obvious when he was constantly over running and getting caught or corralled.
He has certainly recovered and was certainly not at his best when we got him.

Re: Time trial
A hard running wingman who doesn’t like physical contact
Who had won a B&F at Freo - bulked up?
To a massive 78kg
I’ll tell you when he bulked up
At StK - around the guts

Re: Time trial
He was 81 kg when he got here. He was 71 in his draft year and was tiny for 180cm. He was 176kg when he got to Freo and put on 5 more kilos.
Then he got knee problems.
I know you probably have studied lots of young footballers bodies BM but fetishes are just fetishes. If he is 78 now, I'm figuring he lost 3 kilos in 3 years.
Three kilos of fat apparently.
Clearly there has been improvements in his running since coming over. He won the time trial this year I'm hearing.
But you keep backing up your eye tests. They've served you well in most of your arguments, until faced with facts. Then you resort to words like wank and wanker.

Mate
Any prick with eyes could see he was carrying 2020-2022
And it showed in his performances - underwhelming
A player who bases their game on running and lose their 1 wood
Struggle - and he did
He was shunted to HB for a reason

Re: Time trial
He was injured BM and had to play in a team that had spent 4 years being coached to chase the opposition around all bar the recruits he came with.
But you go with he gained a couple of kilos and had a spare tyre around his guts.

Hahaha
This pic was taken in November 2019. While in Bali before he took off on his road trip to Melbourne. Reports say he got stuck in the Nullarbor and had to eat his spare tyre. You are seriously delusional.
In December he ran 7th in a 3k time trial. Then he pigged out on meat Pies and sausages and came back from Xmas with spare tyre around hid guts.
Then by his first game he was a regular Michelin man
[
Would you like some kool aide with that humble pie.
Eye test. Pfft.

Re: Time trial
By the way, he was training and possibly playing with a thermal singlet at one stage. Perhaps he should have asked his wife if it made him look fat.
But he probably doesn't give a rats, after all he has achieved and put up with from people living their dreams out on social media and making comments about his appearance.
Such people are narrow minded beings but we have to accept them for what they are and prove otherwise of their self promoting comments and opinions.

Re: Time trial
From 2020-2022 Hill was our highest paid player
He finished outside the top 10 in the B&F in 2020
6th in 2021
=7th in 2022
We probably wanted him to be in our best 3-5 players
Ie/
In 2020
He was outside the top ten when we paid him 800-900
And traded away ridiculous draft capital for him
Butler was RU B&F same season and we traded a fourth rounder for him and he would have been on base salary 300k
Hill was ok as a HB in 21, 22 and not bad in 23 as a HHF
He was back to winning time trials last season. And his output was good/better - he wasn’t getting cheap kick across hb
It was obvious he was in better shape, same with Crouch

Re: Time trial
That's very generous calling that side a Grand Final team. They may have run out on to the ground and had their photo taken, but it was very clear, very early, that they were not in the same league as the Cats.
