Personally I don't think Campbell can play AFL so Lyon has the issue all coaches have, you can't select players who don't belong at the level.

Re: Hayes now injured
Adversity creates opportunity.
With extra bench player I see Marshall predominantly rucking and Campbell helping out a little.
I would be at pains to move Wood from the wing - just had his best year yet, as has Battle.
Sharman perhaps or maybe Allison shows something.
Smaller forward line worked for Collingwood, play Gresh out of the square perhaps with Membrey, Butler, Higgins and perhaps Phillipou .
be creative rather than trying to rob Peter to pay Paul, or going with something that hasn't worked before

Re: Hayes now injured
Spot on spert, there's a lot of love out there for Jack Hayes mostly based on an impressive debut game and I agree that he has a bit of x-factor about him. But it is by no means certain that even if fully fit he would necessarily be an automatic selection to help fill the void left by King's injury.
Great opportunity for the versatile Mason Wood to claim a place in attack!

Re: Hayes now injured
Would have been 100% certain of a spot because we are in even more trouble than at any time in 22 with regards to injuries....specifically tall options in the forward line.Sanctorum wrote: ↑Tue 17 Jan 2023 12:49pmSpot on spert, there's a lot of love out there for Jack Hayes mostly based on an impressive debut game and I agree that he has a bit of x-factor about him. I'm assuming Sharman is still miles off the pace if Lyon has Allison ahead of him, it's hard to argue we are in big trouble even before the season starts.

Mason Wood has found his place in the team as a midfielder because he is a super athlete.
I doubt that he will be moved back to the forward line.

Agree, you can't train for one postion and then switch as easily as Sanctorum thinks, however desperate times and all so who knows SP but yeah, I would have thought Wood is vitally needed up the ground so I can't see him being our key marking option in the forward line. Rob Peter to pay Paul maybe if desperate?...and we are in desperate territory now...big time.

Hopefully good enough to then play a game of AFL, doesn't seem to be even in the conversation currently.

Heard him mentioned plenty of times. Will play this year. Possibly even round 1 depending on preseason form.

By Lyon? now would be a fantastic time to announce yourself, it won't be hard to win spot in the side if you're a tall man.

No. Cordy found his niche on Saints media.
He can do a roving segment in the rooms after the games but only after a loss to keep in the mood and with his interviewing style.

Re: Hayes now injured
He's certainly going to be an interesting watch this year, doesn't sound like he's giving any effort so far, hopefully he has an excuse like injury or mad Monday hangover.
What did we pay for him again?

In relative terms only his salary as he was a FA.

Re: Hayes now injured
There doesn't seem to be any conversation about my favourite project player in Sharman either, I found it interesting that Alison was the man in waiting to replace King.
Probably will be forced to play players that aren't up to it.

Re: Hayes now injured
Sharman may make it as a 3rd - but doubt it
As a KPP he lacks size, strength and ability
Didn’t even impact at Sandy last season

Also mods are red hot on banter atm so tread carefully, I'd hate to see you get a ban.
