Re: Nick Riewoldt and the coaching coup.
As long as that Essendon flog Goddard doesn't end up at the Saints in some capacity it should all work out great.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?
Re: Nick Riewoldt and the coaching coup.
Brett was confiding on the Tuesday, after being requested to present to the Board on the following Thursday evening, that the outcome on Thursday "may not be good news, so be warned".
This was confided to family members and to close friends.
And so it turned out.
We were forewarned.
Bear in mind that the Review commenced with the extension of Brett's Contract - and that Review included speaking with all parties including the Coach (obviously).
In terms of the rating of our List (now absent Ryder, Geary and Hannebery), put together your "best 22" then see who is left.
That is the reason the List is rated at 14 of 18.
The reason for this is historic - noting the age demographic of the List which saw, initially, the recruitment of players from the State Leagues (of whom only Wilkie now remains), then trading in players and now going to the Draft.
It has been a process - and remains a process.
And, I would add, a deliberate process.
In regards the Draft, how many players across the competition, Drafted as 18 year olds, are now being de-listed with minimal AFL game time and returning to their original State League Clubs?
To me this raises another question, being Drafting at 18 (and to accommodate the never ending appetite of the AFL for publicity over and above the interests of the Code and players).

Re: Nick Riewoldt and the coaching coup.
Just to add, I support the Draft process at 20 years of age (and doing away with all the other never ending rubbish the AFL carries on with seeking never ending headlines - and noting that instead of players changing Clubs seeking more opportunity (Steele, Membrey) we now see first pick players changing Clubs to Clubs in contention, so seeking a premiership on their CV. This process is no longer an equalization process and, indeed, is the opposite)
At 20, these players have completed their formal education, have had exposure to State League football over and above Under 18 Competitions, are able to be assessed accordingly and have an increased maturity upon being required to leave home, families and friends
This would also see a strengthening of the State Leagues, which are the feeder competitions and which reflect the strength of the Code.
Plus it filters down from State Leagues to suburban competitions.

The club should only draft players from Norwood.
Makes sense.

Madam Pavlova
When have I ever contributed such a view?
You should learn to count such that you can change hands at 99
Fornicated moron

Touchy.
Did I say you expressed that particular view, mockingbird.
I took your original idea, crystallised it and made it better by turning it into reality.
