We need more from Jones and Long. Hardly sighted.
St Kilda should never trade with Essendon and Sydney ever again!!!

Hopefully keep this up for 4 quarters. A 20 goal to 8 win would be nice.

That seems like a peculiar observation to meBrunswicksainter wrote: ↑Sun 29 May 2022 2:30pm As with last month dominated at clearance in the early stages. We cant stick our heads in the sand as much as we want but its very evident this Ryder/midfield partnership is not working and hasn't for some time.
Unsure whether that's Ryders fault or just poor reading of play by the midfielders.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Kangaroos Round 11 2022
Yep that’s an issue to be solved
Had plenty looks
Too King conscious
Patton coming forward just looks for King when outnumbered
Need to look at other options
Owens needs to crack in he’s trying and you can see with confidence he’ll get there but big step up from sandy
I do think our forward pressure could better but like Sharman in there …

Seriously Paton should not be allowed to kick inside 50. Terrible decision making at least twice

Poor kicking made that an ordinary quarter.
Looks like we’re relying on a big second half as usual!

I actually think Ben Paton is legally blind. He doesn't seem to recognise Saints jumpers at all.

Centre clearances to half time
Ryder (1-6) - 5 direct scoring opportunities for north (2 goals)
Marshall (2-0) - 1 goal for st kilda

Re: Match Thread Saints v Kangaroos Round 11 2022
How long has delivery into forward 50 been an issue???
I mean we are lucky Nora are as bad but against good sides we’ll pay a price for wasteful entry and it just rebounding straight out
This has to be a Ratten priority to fix
If you genuinely want to be a top 4 contender this must be cleaned up
Been going way too long
Agree Patton isn’t someone I’d like the ball in the hands off into 50
Woods done nothing
Maybe this is why they like Amon???
It’s why I like Connolly- good ball user combined with hood decision makers really hurt you
We need to keep loading up on them

Great to see the young guys all getting involved, but probably just not quite there yet in quality. Need to kick better and smarter going forward. North heavily tagging Crouch and Gresch

I actually think we’re missing Steele more than I thought we would. We’re currently getting away with it against a poor team, but I think a good team would be punishing us right now.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Kangaroos Round 11 2022
Well that 1/4 was akin to our 2019 game 1st round game v North. Two poorly skilled sides making far too many errors. Gresham is lucky we have a bye next week he simply doesnt work hard enough when playing through the midfield. We need a lift from basically all our flankers Webster, Long, Sharman, Windhager, Owens and Wood including Gresham.
I know North were trying to stop the damage , but our midfielders are simply not working hard or smart enough. The amount of stoppage clearances they've had without any pressure is simply not good enough for a side wanting to be a top 4 side. Hopefully we step it up in the 2nd half and start icing our shots on goal.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Kangaroos Round 11 2022
As I predicted earlier, our defence is performing well yet again. Wilkie, Battle and Howard all terrific.
I demanded a good performance from NWM, Long and Sharman and NWM has really delivered. Sharman has chipped in with a goal, but really needs to do a bit more than this. As for Long, he's looking at a game for the Zebras very soon.
The rest are mostly going ok in general play, but our goalkicking is shameful and our entries into the forward 50 variable in quality.
