Correction on that stat, Harris comes in 233rd!

Agree B.M., Usman's record is stupidly superior to Harris. If what you say is true and I don’t doubt it, it says more about Bailey and Langer than our choices for opener.

It's been a few seasons now where we have no young opening bats around the country putting their hand up. If not Usman, I'd give Renshaw as many shots at it as Harris has had if no one else wants to do it.
Henry Hunt is building towards being a test prospect.
Have a watch of the Aus A vs England Lions highlights from yesterday. Aus A all out for 213, the majority of them out trying to hit the ball out of the park. Maddinson, a player who has spoken openly about his desire to reclaim a test berth, down the pitch trying to smash a six third ball. Out for a duck. And now, there's no more opportunity to press for a place because there's no more shield cricket in Australia until February.
Nah the T20 franchise fest has had zero impact on the development of test match batsmen. Nup. Not at all.

T20 pays the bills...
And to be fair, it is also very good for the gambling industry. Eddie McQuire said more money is laid on a single BB game than on the entire AFL season! (So its hitting all of those sustainable development goals SDGs) as well.

This kind of justification for the slaughter of the first class game makes me puke. The commercial imperative argument in support of the Big Bash is like a dog chasing its tail. A never ending loop of self-justification.

Harris yes but Lyon? He's grown on me, a bit like wrinkles and ear hair.
He's an important part for our trio of quicks & not having our Captain miss Tests for shockingly slow over rates.
Oh, nearly 400 Test wickets is also a fair reason.

WTF no Snicko technology & no crease techology for the third umpire? Apparently the match referee thought it was too hard to arrange with border closures? FFS if they can get two cricket teams there, they can get the technology and technicians there...

Who in his place?
He's been serially under rated his whole career.

Cam Green you star. Don't find an all rounder who can get runs and bowl 140 kph overs easily.

Can't wait to see him more at test level.

How bout we pick someone under the age of 30
It’s Pucovski’s spot, Khawaja and Harris are just keeping the seat warm.

In the meantime I’d rather have the best player there.

Lyon got the ball rolling this morning. He’s not Warne, but still seriously underrated.

Sorry to be a pedant. It was 4 for.
400 wickets as an offie is pretty handy.

10 wicket victory is an absolute drubbing.

Well done Australia.

Edit: Totally jinxed them and spoke too soon. 9 wicket victory. My bad. :o

Total white wash, wasn’t it.

Didn’t think it would end any other way.

If there were a Perth test following this, I’d expect more of the same, but now I ask, do you think they can make a series of it?

I’m sure they’ll dignify the game by trying hard and consistently and they might pinch one test. Or am I imagining too much?

Broad, Anderson and Stokes all not firing. The others decent Shield level trundlers. Like a NZ team of the 70s. hahahahaha….it’s nice to be arrogant and cocky!,,,
