I agree I think Ross will go as will billings and Lonie but we need to keep Dunstan he is killing them
I hear that crouch of Crows is hoping to join his brother at the saints all Australian a ball magnet.
And we should try and get Charlie constable he is keen to leave Geelong and is only 21/22
So I don't think we would feel the loss of these guys so much if we got 1 or both of these players

Ross for a second round pick

Hmm 🤔
Matthew Allison and Ben Long are second round picks

that’d be a good compensation

Like Billings, he’s worth more to us than his compo would give us

Billings was a pick 3

And after 8 years we turn that into pick 37

Only at StKilda

Billings isnt really a pick 3 ...in reality that was simply an incorrect draft order - we now know who in that draft ought to have been the higher pick...
Billings is a 15-25 pick other HFF like Amon at Port average similar stats plus 4 tackles a game.....Billings can’t get near 2
We have seen now in multiple games our 1 paced midfield has hurt us - I think Dunstan will go and I’d be prepared to back Bytel in (I wouldn’t chase Crouch....we simply need someone who can spread to help Steele).
Ideally we lose 2 keep 1
It’s either Billings on less coin (clubs made it clear he’s not worth what he was getting) or Ross (at least covers ground)
I would try and use those picks to upgrade eg Dogs need academy picks... but do might we ....Lonie?
If we can get ourself into 2 first rounders happy days...

Billings was a pick three

That was our investment

And we might turn that into pick 36 8 years later

Not quite blue chip

BTW
Someone suggested Billings was a 5-8 player on the list and someone else scoffed at the suggestion and questioned where we’re his high B&F finishes

He’s actually finished top 5 twice

At his best
He is a 20ppg 1 goal HF/Winger
Which puts him amongst the better players in that position in the AFL
Not Robbie Gray, but more than serviceable, actually very good.

Swap Dunstan for Matt Crouch?

That would be a win for me.

Unfortunately Ross = Newnes. Great team man, loyal servant, 10k beast. Happy for him to explore. Champion Data had him getting 300m at 85% v cats. Held up play, lateral loopy kicks, slow ball mover. Happy to keep but $$ could be better spent.
Same for Dunstan. Gets a stack but disposal is no where near elite.
Hoping another side sees value in Lonie for a trade or player swap. If only the Lonie was a foot taller.
Need to keep Billings. Hoping he and his management have realistic expectations.

Weren't our last 3 B&F's, Ross, Steele and Steven a second round draft picks or Steven might have been a 3rd.

I think we have had the best that Ross's pick 25 is going to give.

I think Billings will stay TBH

Also supposedly we are interested in Maclean from the Swans. 22 yr old ruck, originally played at Sandy but was recruited by the swans. Would prefer someone like this over Hunter

McLean

Undersized average ruck/forward

Not good enough at Sydney to get a game

Billings we must keep. Anyone who does not see that when fit he is in our top half a dozen players is not following the game.
He is also a good user of the ball something we are severely lacking in.
He would also be unable to replace him with what we would get for him.

Ross and Dunstan would be easier to replace.
While I would rather keep Ross it would not be the end of the world if we got a 2nd rounder in return.
Dunstan wile he has been in great form, if we could bring in Matt Crouch he would become surplus to requirements.

Gresham Paton Clarke would play before Kent and Lonie. Think we can cover 2 of the three easily.
Lonie will not be on our list next year

That's why they call him the Lonie boy

Strange how our B&F never reflects that
Refer below 2019 - last time Billings was fit for the full season...has been playing injured the last two years and also when drafted.
Sure injuries are a problem but not talent. Too valuable to give up for a second round pick

Jack Billings
Games: 22
Season averages:
Best game: Round 13 v Gold Coast, 33 disposals, 11 tackles, two goals
Key stat: First for St Kilda’s uncontested possessions, second for total disposals, third for inside-50s and score involvements

Jack Billings was no stranger the scrutiny heading into Season 2019, but a career-best campaign got everyone talking about the No. 15 in a much more positive light.

Despite moving full-time into the Saints' on-ball bridage, the 24-year-old was never unsettled, bringing his best brand of footy when his side was under the pump and the result hung in the balance.

Cool, composed and creative with the footy, Billings is every chance at securing the club's most prestigious individual honour.

Billings is NOT a pick 3 quality player stop talking nonsense
7 years not once top 3 in a B&f geezus...even whipping boy Ross managed to win a couple
He’s not even Amon from port level
Recruited to eventually play in midfield ....can’t.

Saints top 5 players

Steele
King
Marshall
Howard
Ryder

I could also argue for

Crouch
Higgins
Clarke
Gresham
Wilkie

Tell me who Billings replaces in that list???? I’m fascinated???

Again, stop talking nonsense.

Billings will stay, he’ll have to take a pay cut...his management have shopped him around and it’s clear the big $$$ offers are simply not there cause clubs aren’t stupid (abs don’t overrate players like Saints fans do)

Billings is a 15- 20 list player, solid player that’s it- no match winner but better skills than Ross /Dunstan (who will walk).

So now he’s been injured since 2019 and just unlucky????
Come off it
He played his best year ironically when he was last out of contract
He jumps out of the blocks in seasons then fades ...it’s not his fault that’s just him
Solid B grader and will stay for less money

Is it Kosi or Keizer? Scully, McCartin, Boyd, Trengove???

Dustin Martin???

Or Richard Tambling???

What about Pick 37? Leigh Montagna or is it Jack Newnes

Fully fit

Billings is a top 10 player (he’s a shitload better than Higgins btw)

Are you one of those guys who says he’s s***, but wants a high pick for him.

I’ll tell you something

Billings is a 75% chance to be better than a second round draft pick
And a 95% chance to be better than a third round pick

B: Paton, Howard, Wilkie
HB: Coffield, Battle, Sinclair
C: Hill, Steele, Byrnes
HF: Higgins, Marshall, Gresham
F: Butler, King, Membrey

Foll: Ryder, Crouch, Clark
Int: Bytel, Connolly, Jones, Sharman

I don't think that side gets a whole lot better with any of the 3 players mentioned included. I'd offer Billings 450k for a couple of years, Ross 300k and Dunstan 200k. If they don't accept those contracts then they can go.

Hannebery 800k
