Clarko is not going to waste an entire year as a transitional coach.
And the bniggest coaching gig in the country is up for grabs.
Get real.
Clarko to Collingwood.
Or Carlton, if he decides it has a better list.

Re: Clarkson stepping down - Stepping up at Saints?
Thought it has been said he wants to spend more time with family so that would mean a less time consuming role than coaching
I can see him seeing out his Hawks contract and taking on a less demanding role somewhere
He has norhing to prove in coaching unless taking an unsuccesssful club like the Saints to a Premiership

I love it when coaches say they want to spend more time with their family. It's always AFTER the kids have grown up.
Clarkson is an obsessive beast like Malthouse and Pagan. He could never allow himself to be anything but a head coach because he's a control freak.

Collingwood or Carlton for him in 2022. He won't be mollycoddling Sam Mitchell. Mitchell is just as arrogant as Clarkson, maybe moreso. He is aloof and sees himself to be the smartest guy in the room, no matter what room he is in.

I have heard he is going to the AFL to replace Steve Hocking.
Rugby League would have to be the stupidest, most moronic and over rated game of all time.

If he's such a good coach, how come Hawthorn aren't on top? All a premiership coach needs is 22 premiership quality players.

Cannot understand that comment. You must have been the one who released Allen Jeans.perfectionist wrote: ↑Wed 07 Jul 2021 8:20pm If he's such a good coach, how come Hawthorn aren't on top? All a premiership coach needs is 22 premiership quality players.

Hawthorn are after money for Clarkson. He will be at Collingwood next year and it will be at a price.

Okay, that's a resounding no then. Oh well, Ratts it is then!
As ex-president Peter Summers said:
“If we are going to be a contender, we may as well plan to win the bloody thing.”
St Kilda - At least we have a Crest!

Re: Clarkson stepping down - Stepping up at Saints?
Allen Jeans did coach 3 premierships at Hawthorn
In which time Allen Joyce also won 2 premierships at 70%
When the stars began to wane, his results did also, so he was moved on.
Went to Footscray and had a 40% record and was sacked.
Point is
The most only thing that needed to be done at Hawthorn was keep the egos in check
Oh, and kick it to Dunstall or Dermie

Re: Clarkson stepping down - Stepping up at Saints?
Genuine question - what's the evidence for his passion and abilities to change when things aren't working?Impatient Sainter wrote: ↑Wed 07 Jul 2021 12:57pmI doubt it, like most coaches I reckon he will want a break after years at Hawthorn. Why would he want to leave a financially well off and successful club to come to the Saints. Ratts has some different ideas, but his passion for the club and abilities to change when things arent working, says he is the right man for the job.Jacks Back wrote: ↑Wed 07 Jul 2021 8:31am Alistair Clarkson is stepping down as Hawks coach at the end of 2022 with Sam Mitchell taking over.
Will we ask the question as I think Ratts' contract ends at the same time?

Clarko will be at the Suns and Collingwood will throw big money around to get Beveridge after the season ends.

Re: Clarkson stepping down - Stepping up at Saints?
Does anyone actually know anything or is it all spitballing..?
My take is that he passes on the pies and blues keep Teague
Will coach the blues, suns or giants, even Eagles at the end of 2022.
Not sure any money in the world is worth killing your reputation at the Gold Coast suns.
The blues killed Malthouse rep
Will mean he will do 12 months at hawks or have a break year.
Saints should most certainly ask the question of Alistair if he will support his mates at the Saints for 2022. It’s was where it all started for him in 1999.

It was Allan Jeans, who once told me that players make coaches and not the other way around. He had no illusions about what a coach could do and could not do.Ghost Like wrote: ↑Wed 07 Jul 2021 8:40pmCannot understand that comment. OK, so what has the GWS made Cameron? I think we all understand a Premiership team needs good players but if you've got a nuffy at the wheel you are treading water if not drowning. Re: Clarkson stepping down - Stepping up at Saints?
Haven’t they made a GF and played in three prelims?
Ultimately they have fallen short, but given injuries and player losses they have been relatively strong

Re: Clarkson stepping down - Stepping up at Saints?
You miss my point B.M., their list of players is exceptional. If a Clarkson had that list it is likely those prelims would have become Premierships.
