I seem to recall a lot of games where Hind went missing and provided zero impact.

Playing as a small forward

As we can see with Butler and Lonie

Playing as a small forward in a poor team isn’t easy, you need quality entries.

The question
Are we playing poorly because Butler and Lonie are not contributing
Or
Are Lonie and Butler not contributing because we are playing poorly.

Unlike a mid - it’s a bit of both.

Nothing easier than playing forward in a dominant team.

It's pretty pointless to look back on these type of players, we never got close with Hickey and Bruce and none of them were instrumental in us making and winning a final last year.

We need to focus on this current group and making sure their work rate and effort is to an acceptable level and build from there. We know they're capable of doing that.

"Nothing easier than playing forward in a dominant team." Yep. When the ball moves quick, the quicks look quick (see late 2020).
When oppo shut down the corridor and its mark, stop, look up, chip and the movement slows or long f50 bombs to 8 on 12, the quicks look useless.

Did you see him in the GF sprint. I don't think he made the final. He's not that quick!

In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.

He’s quick off the mark and over 30m

Which is key in footy

We liked the look of Hind.
Traded him in.
Played him.
Decided he was a dud.
Traded him out.

My understanding is that we wanted to keep him but Essendon wanted him more (offered too much).

My point isn't to highlight poor recruiting but rather poor development of players. I think we're recruited just fine.

We have had players who could perform at the elite level but they weren't developed properly, and don't raise Hickey being at four teams, we had him and he could now be rucking with RoMa and we'd be right, but he isn't and that's our stuff up. Bruce could be taking the heat off young King, but he isn't.

My point is that the pkayers who are out there need to be given time to take on the responsibility to turn things around.
I am saying that players with a proven history of performing shouldn't be dropped in a form slump. Skill deficiencies need to be addressed at training. It could just be pressure when they're under the pump from the opposition.
Players who don't have a proven history of performing however, and continually lack the skills required at the elite level, need to make way for those that do have those qualities.

Guys like Stringer and Tippingwuti are creative and make things happen. We have too many players who are vanilla and are ball watchers. It would appear like many didn't try on Saturday and I have seen that before but not for a long time, however in 1997 we had two massive hidings and lost four of the first five before turning it around and finishing first. In 2008 I seem to remember us staring slowly as well before earning the double chance and finishing top four and making a preliminary final.

I have seen Hill be very creative at other teams, and he now needs to step up and do it here.

Marshall needs to come back in immediately because McKernan and Hunter were never going to be the answer long term.

Carlisle needs to play every week and Webster needs to come back in if he's cherry ripe.
But right now, our best 22 (or as close as we can get) need to be out there.

And for the record, I think Bytel is in that best 22.

Could be true. He won't win anyone a premiership though.

You do realise Hind was being played out of position at St Kilda he is not a small forward he is a half back...A quality player!!!
Seeing Mc Kenzie playing for us and Hind for the Injectors was icing on the cake on Saturday!!!

Hind playing another very good game for The Dopers tonight.

Keeping Papley quiet and running off him and setting up 3 goals with pinpoint passes to leading forwards.

Wasn’t a fan of Hind at St Kilda and not unhappy at all he left, but geez he’s a natural off half back and backs himself in and takes on the game.

We obviously played him out of his best position.

Giving good run off HB

Not sure why we pigeonholed him as a small forward

He was recruited after an outstanding year off HB

And his first game for Sandy he collected 40 off HB in a BOG performance

Ambulance chasing legal firm? Hickey was eventually a dud for us, did not set Optus on fire, lets see how the season in the emerald city pans out before we gnash more teeth. Bruce was a dud for us and other than last week a dud for Bulldogs. North = easy, lets see how he goes long term. Maybe its a breakout maybe its a once only game like for us against the Suns years ago. Hind is not sustainable, too little - possibly the most talented of the three but so small. He will soon get belted out of form. You fly under the radar once. Having said that I would have both Hickey and Hind before Wood. As always, hope I'm wrong.

Hickey wasn't a dud for us. He was poorly coached and dropped in favour of people who were gifted games. Hickey was okay for the Eagles, but they have Natanui and the bloke from Port, both of whom are excellent ruckmen. No surprise they let him go. He did alright again tonight too, in fact I think he was the difference when it counted.

Bruce didn't have a great year last year, but he still kicked goals. We were better than them last year. No doubt.

Hind's future is unwritten, it's up to him how far he goes.

As I have said - my point is that the players we have this season are good players, our challenge is how to get them playing as a team again, not scapegoating people, as has happened in the past, while keeping certain people based on reputation.

They grabbed kids at a young age in a non football state and developed them... don’t see the big deal?!

They had to give up draft picks for them. All three of the ones you mentioned cost a first rounder
