North Melbourne medicos on Thursday abandoned plans to have the two-time best-and-fairest winner return from a painful nerve problem in his back, which had resulted in a lack of strength in his quadriceps.
I'm thinking after the Hannebery & Freeman experiments we may be hun shy at recruiting players with such injury issues and little upside.

Looking at our team moving forward, I think we are looking pretty good.
Wilkie Howard Paton
Coffield Battle Long
Clark Jones Hill
Billings ??? Gresham
Butler King Membery
Marshall Steele ???
INT: Hind Bytel ??? ???
- I feel we need 2 quality mids.... Zac Williams would be a good start
- Another Ruckman
- And A quality CHF or CHB.... Clavarino or Austin might be able to step up

Re: Ben Cunnington
Cunnington won Nth Melbourne's B and F (Syd Barker) last year and polled 10 Brownlow votes. How can he be injury prone if he won it less than 12 months ago?
He's out this year but so are lots of players at many clubs of many ages.

Re: Ben Cunnington
Yep this may well be why we don’t win flags. Cunnington won the N.M B&F LAST year in a team which finished 12th. Odds are, in an injury affected year he’s past his best. Jack Steven won our B&F in 2018 and look at him now. This year Cunnington can’t get on the park (3 games) and next year he’ll be the wrong side of 30. Top up players like him should not be a priority.johnearljames wrote: ↑Thu 20 Aug 2020 9:48pmCunnington won Nth Melbourne's B and F (Syd Barker) last year and polled 10 Brownlow votes. What about Bryce Gibbs?
Should we recruit him for 3 years?

True. They just need to think back on the worst comeback ever, Plugger's. Not only was it sad & hard to watch, he ruined a very easy to remember number for most goals kicked...1357.

it's rare S*K* but I agree with you
"Any candidate for political office, once chosen for leadership, must have the will to take the wheel of a very powerful car, tasked from time to time to make a fast journey down a narrow, precipitous mountain road – and be highly skilled at driving. Otherwise, he is disqualified from the company of competent leaders."

So if we were offered the Three Stooges as a package deal, you would only take Moe ?Secret Kiel wrote: ↑Thu 20 Aug 2020 11:39am Rule number one: Never recruit a balding player. Full crops of hair only.

Probably not deliberately but due to my trichology bias I have a prejudice against poor hair follicle health so yeah Moe would probably be the only one I'd pick.George27 wrote: ↑Fri 21 Aug 2020 9:39pmSo if we were offered the Three Stooges as a package deal, you would only take Moe ?Secret Kiel wrote: ↑Thu 20 Aug 2020 11:39am Rule number one: Never recruit a balding player.
