Re: Luke Partington
Biggy is a wasted pick based on current form and that is what we should base or decision on not his name or the fact he trains with us.
Never heard of luke but if he is still there after pick 50 he can't be that good

Based off that sentence, no one picked after pick 50 must be that good. Why even bother?DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Mon 04 Nov 2019 10:02am Never heard of luke but if he is still there after pick 50 he can't be that good

Re: Luke Partington
Not quite. There are odd gems that are found late but anyone after about fifty hasn't given a lot of indication they will be that good.diddley wrote: ↑Mon 04 Nov 2019 10:23amBased off that sentence, no one picked after pick 50 must be that good. Point was that anyone still available at pick 50 can't be that good as most teams have passed them over not once but twice and some teams three times

Well 2 players last year that had shown every indication that they would be good are Stack and Picket.DJ Higgins wrote: ↑Mon 04 Nov 2019 11:07amNot quite. But yes the chances of them being good are less. But even Stkilda has had its Fishers and Milnes.
And arguably our best current player is Marshall taken well after pick 51.
We need another ruck and 51 could secure a useful prospect.
Flying the World in comfort thanks to FF Points....

Re: Luke Partington
Interesting that those you mention, Milne, Fisher and Marshall were all taken from Senior state league football.
Milne Essendon Reserves at 20yo
Fisher West Adelaide 21yo
Marshall North Ballarat 21yo

Re: Luke Partington
I think you’ll find there have been many stars picked late in the draft or rookied.
However, for every star there are dozens of fails after pick 50
Obviously with every round, the likelihood of getting a gun decreases. After pick 50, it’s very speculative.
The likes of getting good players with pick 7 & 8 two years ago, was almost expected. With the hope of getting a star. Hunter Clark looks a star.
However, for every star there are dozens of fails after pick 50

Reckon we nailed it with pick 3 in last years rookie draft.B.M wrote: ↑Mon 04 Nov 2019 6:06pm I think you’ll find there have been many stars picked late in the draft or rookied.

Getting an equivalent this year would be the icing on the cake of a fantastic trade period.

Re: Luke Partington
I think we can take Partington as a DFA... he appears in this AFL article:
https://www.afl.com.au/news/2019-11-01/ ... a-lifeline
same age as Wilkie was when he starred in a premiership team of the SANFL, i.e. 22... Partington starred in premiership team one year later
22 year olds generally still have some upside.
I think he would be worth taking up a list spot, rather than using pick 100... still leaves us with 51 and 82
