That just confirms my concern, two-thirds of the playing surface being replaced and expecting it to "bed down" in 5 days is asking the impossible. The players will experience the new turf moving under pressure from them in play, a sure way to cop a leg injury - eg. knees, ankles etc.saint3d wrote:As much as it pains me to say so, I think the AFL knows what it's doing in this instance. They wouldn't send players out to play on an unfit surface.
Anyway, this photo was taken yesterday. I'm sure you can use it to allay or exacerbate your concerns as you see fit.

Re: Training
Was thinking exactly that myself. How can the turf not shift under pressure on the surface underneath without meshing into it? Surely a recipe for leg / knee injuries when someone changes directions or stops suddenly.GoSaintersGo wrote:That just confirms my concern, two-thirds of the playing surface being replaced and expecting it to "bed down" in 5 days is asking the impossible. No, he's fine. But unfortunately we had a little mishap today.tony74 wrote:Even if I knew I wouldn't put it out there. I can tell you however that one of our mid fielders is a trifle sore, and may miss.Myron Gaines wrote:Do you think Acres is selected to play?tony74 wrote:That's our biggest concern however. Because no one has coached against him it takes a few games for opposition clubs to work out there Gameplan. Goodwin and Melbournes greatest weakness ( Haven't played together) could potentially be there greatest asset in the first few games

Re: Training
No Jack Steven in the team list but website says he is playing. List missing a few names. Still a mystery ...

Re: Training
Did the playing surface contribute to Rooey's knee injury? Could have as Richo mentioned the new turf was a "little soft and the ball didn't bounce as normal." Trust the Club is looking into the possibility.GoSaintersGo wrote:That just confirms my concern, two-thirds of the playing surface being replaced and expecting it to "bed down" in 5 days is asking the impossible.
