Re: Ratten sacked
Have we had a top 4 list since 2013?
By my reckoning
We’ve pretty much finished where predicted every season

Re: Ratten sacked
They were trying to be respectful to Brett, not dump on him to explain the decision.
Hamstrung themselves by deciding not to say much about the review and who they have lined up.
Acknowledged there were/are other deficiencies in the footy program and they hampered Brett.
Gave Brett an opportunity to explain the poor post bye performances, inability to turn up for big games and shocking performances against Freo, Dogs and Bombers but it seems he could not be convincing about turning that around.
Media harped about extension and they agreed it was a bad move, but the fact Brett did not honour his side with coaching success was not mentioned.
Review findings to follow after a short period of mourning.

Re: Ratten sacked
It basically amounts to admitting the extension for Ratten was a mistake ( as many on here felt)
And there was no point compounding that mistake by doubling down on it.
It's actually a mature response.
Ratten is a good coach and a very good bloke.
But the question they have to ask is whether he can lead us to a flag.
They have decided no.

Resigning Ratten was always the wrong call.
Their should be a review of how that decision was ever made.
Ultimately it’s the right call just executed terribly.

No obvious candidate that stands out. Who knows what the board and exec have in mind. Who would have thought Craig Macrae would do so well. Someone new to being a senior coach? Or someone with experience in that role? Personally wouldn't like to see us go back to Lyon or god forbid Hird. Buckley...dunno. Yze. Harvey. Who else is in the mix?skeptic wrote: ↑Fri 14 Oct 2022 5:41pmDo you have any thoughts on who St.B?st.byron wrote: ↑Fri 14 Oct 2022 5:13pmAgreed wholeheartedly. At last some hard edge and demand for excellence. A step away from suffering in mediocrity. Thank god.Devilhead wrote: ↑Fri 14 Oct 2022 4:58pm Meh who cares why we fired Ratten - in the end the right decision was made for moving forward
The board made a mistake and rectified it without any further damage being done
Yes it's another friggen reset but I can't help but feel that this one is different - this path is a million times better than the path we were on with Ratten and I for one applaud the board for having the big balls to pull the trigger

My guess it’s between Yze and Don Pyke.

No way Don Pyke will coach the Saints. Why would he when he knows he will be sacked. I don't think he's much good anyway.
In Springfield, they're eating the dogs. The people that came in, they're eating the cats. They’re eating – they are eating the pets of the people that live there.
