Must disagree.

Irrespective of who paid what, there is a select group who make all the ownership decisions.

This "Divine Right" must be dismantled for the Forum to move forward.
Hi GrumpyOne

This may be your perception, however the reality (as far as I can see it) seems to be quite different.

The people who volunteered over the past few years did so with good intentions and offered their time to help keep this community running after it was attached by spam bots etc.

They have been making decisions which they felt were best in creating and maintaining this forum community.

As you can see, with this thread and with the poll, there is change underway and they support this input and change.

Simon

If what Gaz says is correct, he should be given some leeway before being banned.

On a personal note to Gaz.... mate, give this new regime a chance and meet them halfway on this. I got the warning PM, and in the interests of the forum, am prepared to accept the imposed censorship.

Let it be.

Hi Principle of Q'uo

A few key points as per what I responded to you via PM before you took this (as is your right) into the forum for debate.

You are not a victim of being retrospectively warned or banned.

Simply:

* these multiple PMs they you have received are NOT warnings!
* they are warnings of a warning with an option for you to avoid a warning (now and in the future)
* IF a warning is issued it would be based on the FORUM RULES that have existed and were posted and present on the forum prior to me being a MOD
* these FORUM RULES existed before my recent involvement (so they are breaches of rules that EXISTED)
* I had outlined from the start that my focus would be to implement these rules - in a fair manner
* My priority is to help educate offenders so that they can temper their own posting and avoid rule breaches / warnings
* I would LOVE to avoid issuing warnings and bans - but that is going to come down to how people react to the rules being applied

I am concentrating on the existing ACTIVE threads on the first page of the forum for issuing a standard pre-warning warning - as outlined earlier in the thread (I think page 6) and then a copy of which is on page 8 of this thread.

You are GUILTY of nothing as of now. You are not being banned. I never ever stated that.

You have and had the opportunity to have me alter / delete the threads.

It seems that you are unwilling to do that.

I ask you to reconsider that position.

If not, then a first warning WILL apply. It will be a single warning as ALL four of the breaches of the EXISTING RULES.

That is fair and would help educate you as to:

(a) the rules
(b) the consequences of breaches

I would then hope that you can self edit yourself (as a highly educated and intelligent member of our community) to ensure that you comply with the forum rules.

In conclusion, I am not on a "power trip". I have been given the right to enforce the forum rules as a MOD. I am doing so, whether people like me or not for doing so.

I am not here to win a popularity contest.

I am here to help create with other likeminded people a better environment on the forum to welcome and encourage the posting of new, current and even old members.

Thanks

Simon

i'll take the one warning for the four breaches thank you.

AS LONG AS that means not one word of what i wrote is altered
by you or any other mod on this site.

is that the deal simon ?

The single warning will be issued based on you being unwilling to retract or remove your statements and instead insist to leave these postings that breach the forum rules.

There will be no enforced censorship of the four offending posts.

You have had the choice to avoid this warning.

Please note that I can not guarantee the actions of any other MOD.

Please also note that you have been notified that we shall be enforcing the forum rules.

Please understand that this strategy of "pre-warning for warnings" is mine as an educational period to help make people aware of the rules and consequences of breaches ... because in the new forum there will be no pre-warning, instead the Forum Rules as written will be enforced.

Also please note the right of MODS to currently warn (without a pre-warning) if it is believed that the poster is a deliberate repeat offender in breaching forum rules.

Thanks

Simon

you strive to educate me on as / when they rewritten by SEN .
before they were submitted for acceptance.

I think Simon is basically suggesting that "offending" elements of posts will be deleted, not re-worded…

Correct - we are talking current MODS.

However it is highly unlikely that the other 2 active MODS will be changing your posts without permission (as this is not within their moderation right) this why I am seeking permission.

Also neither of the other two current MODS have been available to moderate within the past 4 or 5 days. One for longer. I don't think they will enter into this issue at this stage.

The only reason I cannot guarantee that they will not edit your posts is that I simply cannot control their actions. However it would be wrong if they did it without your permission.

Based on your position of no change to the text that breached the forum rules - you have been warned- which was your preference.

I sincerely hope it is the last warning you receive.

Simon

I can't find fault with your implementation BFUSA. I think this place is in need of serious clean up. Hell on BF on any of the boards if you step out of line posts are modified or deleted and cards given. Nothing wrong with that IMO.

On another forum I've seen a little arrow over to the right of thread titles.
If you click when you're logged in it takes u to your last post
Handy if you've posted and then logged off and come back later as u can finish reading from where u left off.
Or do the big footy thing which is when u log in all posts u haven't read sat new up in the right corner.
Or
Just have a little clucjable link in the thread title on main page, a little icon that when clucked auto takes u to the last post read.
Very handy for bigger threads of a number of pages
The version of the forum I use (I think it's called IDLaunch Black Style) has the option to go to first unread post, so it seems it exists in some of the formats and not others.

The Forum guidlines are there for everyone...and good on BFUSA for starting to apply them.

I do like to debate/argue points vigourously, and if I ever get out of line I'll cop my fair whack....

..if posters attacked topics as enthusiastically as they attack eachother, this place would rock.

Agreed bakesfan. I am all for the PM's Simon sent out. I agreed to my posts being altered or deleted.

If this stops threads being jacked, or abuse or insults, I am all for it.

And i know i have been one to give and cop my fair share.

The times they are a changin'.

Its quite simple, if you dont like the moderation rules dont post here.

Nobody makes any of us post anything here.

Looking forward to having threads stay on track.

Fine by me.

And matrix, does numpty violate forum rules? Where else will I ever get to read such a description??? :D :D :D

Only one improvement I can see so far in the Mod process.....I don't get the 'option' being given the delete/alter. If it breaks the rules then it breaks the rules, so it should be deleted/altered. The poster who has contravened has posted knowing the rules are in place and posted accordingly. So they then suffer the consequences of that rule breaking. If they rfuse to alter/delete, it just makes a mockery of the process.

Send a PM to advise "you post in such and such thread has been altered as it contravened the forum rules of.......blah blah". Don't give options. My 2c.

agree with that......otherwise a poster can go to town on another poster,.....let it stay up for all to see...then allow it to be altered or deleted without suffering any penalty.....not good enough imho......
