If you’re satisfied with just beating a team that played some of the worst football I’ve ever seen for most of the game, that’s fine.
I’d rather see us kicking 16.10 and not 10.16. Not butchering the ball bombing inside 50. Not kicking it out of defensive 50 with no system whatsoever.
I’m happy with the win, not ecstatic.
Did love Bruce’s mark and goal tho

What about Parker’s hit on McGrath?!
Also, loved the way he played on and kicked that goal.
The kid is going to cause a few headaches for opposition backlines.

Any sad sacks out there - would you rather be a St Kilda supporter or Melbourne this week?

It had a bit of the Byron Pickett or Rod Keogh about it, didn't it?
There'll be plenty of opposition players looking over their shoulders every time they play us now.

Re: Match Thread Saints v Bummers Round 2 2019
There's truth in what you say Dudmeister, but to be honest, I was just rapt we beat Essendon in front of their home crowd - and I always felt we kept them at arm's length for the duration of the game. We made some mistakes during the game sure, like the player who decided to run for a touchdown and others continually kicking the ball straight to Aaron Francis, but the endeavour was there, and we are missing a few of our regular 22 and some very handy players.The_Dud wrote: ↑Sat 30 Mar 2019 7:36pmIf you’re satisfied with just beating a team that played some of the worst football I’ve ever seen for most of the game, that’s fine.takeaway wrote: ↑Sat 30 Mar 2019 7:33pmUnbelievable. I knew we were a chance today and it was great to win, but it would have been nice to convert, that's for sure. However, for today only, I think I enjoyed the game better knowing that we were able to beat them reasonably comfortably without playing anywhere near our best.
I think we're a big, big chance to make it three in a row next week too. Today will have built some belief - but the forwards need extra coaching and development because they are just not taking their chances at the moment, and they will need to do that next week to beat a Western Australian side in Perth.

Not sure about kicks specifically but today was 73 turnovers vs. Bombers 76.The Fireman wrote: ↑Sat 30 Mar 2019 11:47pm does anyone have the stats on how many times we kick to the opposition ?
Last week we had 78 vs. GC 80.
The better teams seem to have around 60 on average, so a bit of work to do there still.

18 less turnovers could certainly be the difference between winning and losing.

A fair indicator would be to find out how many disposals Aaron Francis had, because we were kicking to him all day.The Fireman wrote: ↑Sat 30 Mar 2019 11:47pm does anyone have the stats on how many times we kick to the opposition ?
