Gilbert as Ruck has been one of the highlights of the season.
Gives us an extra man.

Re: Match Thread Saints vs Dees
Just a word to the AFL - NONE of the umpires today will get the Grand Final this year! They either don't know the Rules... are too slow in their reaction time... or perhaps just plain incompetent?!

Re: Match Thread Saints vs Dees
They have given us every chance to win this game, and we have absolutely stuffed it.
Time and time again they have gone harder than us. And surprisingly goal kicking has cost us another game, AGAIN!

Re: Match Thread Saints vs Dees
The fact that we've allowed them to have extra numbers in EVERY part of the ground is baffling. The only reason I can think of is our players aren't prepared to run, lazy.

Re: Match Thread Saints vs Dees
Ok, here's a hypotehtiucal for you....
A lumbering ruckman and a midfielde are running towards the ball unopposed. They arrive at the ball at the same time.
Who picks it up?
A) The midfielder. Derr. That's his job you idiot.
B) The ruckman.
C) Neither. They both wait for the other to pick it up whilst a Melbourne player goes in a grabs it.

Re: Match Thread Saints vs Dees
It happens time and again and we've not learnt in a decade.
Case in point: Gilbert screams towards goal in vital last Qtr .... limited pressure....result? Out on the full
Until we recruit players with composure and a commensurate skill level we are wasting our time
How often are we simply not good enough to take our chances while the opposition go down the other end and capitalise??
We are full of list cloggers with mediocre skill levels - lots of very good VFL types that's what we are.

Re: Match Thread Saints vs Dees
Gilbert is a legacy player from the Clinton Jones/Andrew McQualter era.
Terrible foot skills but good fitness etc. The latter gets him a game.
