Just reading my local community newspaper and the names of a few ex-Saints jump out at me.

Dramatic win for Perth against Tigers

“Perth veteran Clint Jones was the hero in a dramatic on-the-siren win for Perth over Claremont at Claremont Oval on Saturday. Aside from the opening scores in the game, the Tigers (Claremont) were never headed until the final second of play, giving Perth their second win of the season...............................
Four goals each to Beau Maister and Tom Lee...........were not enough to get the Tigers home...........”

I guess Saints could do with Tom Lee’s accurate kicking for goal!!!!!!!!

Claremont is a little Ex Saints enclave- Tom, Beau, Spencer White and Tom Curren all there.

I guess Saints could do with Tom Lee’s accurate kicking for goal!!!!!!!!

Claremont is a little Ex Saints enclave- Tom, Beau, Spencer White and Tom Curren all there.

Possibly one could add - Claremont home to some rather un-successful ex-Sainters. None of them set the AFL world alight IMHO.
At least my local team Perth, has Clint Jones, now he did put in and really play his role for the Saints during the Lyon years.

Claremont has Nicholas Winmar, and Tom Ledger (Heath's cousin) who didn't set the world on fire, but that's only 2.
Beau and Tom Lee floated into and out of the seniors at the Saints, but Beau had a problem with marking the ball,
however when I have seen Claremont on TV, he can hold a really strong mark under pressure.
What the hell.

Beau is one of the nicest guys you would ever meet, and an articulate man.
Copped a lot of stick from the Saints boys with nicknames like 'dad' due to his very old looking head but took it with good grace.

I think his papers were stamped the day he fell over running on his own giving up a goal at Etihad (was it against Essendon?)

Watty Scotters earmarked Tom Ledger as the next big thing during his tenure, compared him with Dane Swan probably says more about Watty than Tom.

Is it 100+ games for the locker or 50?
Phillips (Foppsy, I recall my grandfather saying) was the gun from the 30's -40's.

#3 probably only bettered for quality by #4 - The Doc, Plugger, Breen, Thommo

Simon played 40 games for the Dawks reserves then played in 5 flags at Old Xavs. Then coached them to another 2 flags.

Personal life aside - it's refreshing to have someone in our club who knows how to actually win things. As in actually doing it - not just planning how to do it.
