Re: Beau Maister
Did someone tell you Roberts role?
Mmm... Yeah?
Seriously,
Most likely to engage and limit the effectiveness of a certain defender?!
Which he didn't do.... It's that simple.
He was ineffective in all three grand finals and was rated this by all 'experts'
Jarryn Geary would be one of the first picked weekly.... Anyone who believes he is a dud, has little idea
Armitage would be picked in the top 5
Riewoldt would be followed By Steven as the second magnet on the board
Rob (a terrific person no question) was just a good player in the SANFL
Hindsight.... It was a poor selection
Mmm... Yeah?

Re: Beau Maister
Eddy was a perfect Lyon player. Mature body and very good endurance - Could lay and take the hits and run all day. He use to blitz the 3k time trial. 14.9 in the beep test before being picked up. The fact he couldn't play football at a very high level (in AFL terms) wasn't a major consideration. Lyon role player....

He said someone did. maybe it was Rob Eddy himself. Its not as if its hard to talk to Eddy. You are obviously calling him a liar. I have a question for you. How do you know Robs a terrific person?

Re: Beau Maister
It is an absolute tragedy that Maister is just about the worst mark of any tall in the AFL, because he works as hard and makes good position as well as anyone. But the reality is that he can't and never has been able to finish off his good work by holding the grab and kicking the goal. If Lee is match fit then he has to replace Beau. I'd even rather Longer in as the 'bomb it long' option - he would at least give a good contest in the air and contribute as a second ruck. His size would mean that he'd be a very dangerous prospect if left one-on-one with a defender.
Re: Beau Maister
Think he will go out of the side this week but it won't be the last we see of him. Hopefully he can find some touch in the seconds and come back in with more effect. I don't recall his marking ever being as bad as it's been this year, so I'm hoping it isn't a chronic problem - could very well be in his head.

BUT
I wasnt actually saying that 'space filling' was really his role!
I am on record way back then saying that whole notion was a nonsense invented on SS.
I was making a light hearted giggle about how we sometimes explain away someones 'role' when they are aren't getting much of the ball.
It was a joke and I was using the silliness of 'space filling' as a reference.
You will find - i never actually believed thats what he was meant to do - and I always ridiculed people who suggested it!
So you were dead wrong in interpreting what i said too.
we both went off half cocked thats for sure.
Ok cool no worries Con

Apparently 3rd in the comp in contested marks though. From SaintsSeptember on Big Footy
Based on all of the AFL
Farren Ray has had the third most kicks.
CJ has had the 10th most handballs ( keep working on it CJ I like your handballs, well actually I like you not kicking ).
CJ has the equal 12th most disposals - the same as Pendlebury.
Armo has our most contested disposals 29th , I guess we are sharing the load.
James Gwilt has the 6th best disposal efficiency. All of the players better than him have had less disposals than him. Apparently 2 of his 52 were not so good.
Armo and Joey are ninth for clangers. That's OK Ablett is first.
Nick Riewoldt is 2nd for marks. Dempster is 5th.
As has been pointed out elsewhere Maister is the contested mark Maister (3rd ). Stanley is 6th
Nick and his cousin share the honours for most marks inside 50.
Hickey is only 17th for hitouts.
Armo 18th for clearances, 11th for center clearances.
Curren 16th for stoppages
Dempster 8th for rebounds.
Hickey 10th for getting free's also gives away the most for StKilda but not too many.
Saunders and Dunstan 18th for tackling
Gwilt leading our 1% ers but he is well down at 35th.
Dempster 13th for bounces.
Ray and Riewoldt lead our kicks into 50.
Nick leading the goalkicking. Our next is Eli at 41st.
CJ is our highest points kicker , but its only 3 and he's leading the comp for goal assists.
Joey, Dempster, Hickey, Geary and Gwilt have 100% goal accuracy. ( but only Hickey and Joey have kicked more than 1 ).
Gwilt has spent the 10th most time on ground (97.1%)
Riewoldt has the 6th most dreamteam points.

Confidence???
Yeah, a real secret? Who's confidence... It was 4 years ago, and I'm sure his role of being a defensive fwd is NO secret, nor the fact he had little or no impact.
What a load of rubbish, you are just grandstanding
If you actually knew of something, you'd state it?
Otherwise, fluff

For god's sake man , you're a teacher. Please use the question mark appropriately. Or don't you know how? It's so frustrating to read things from a so-called professional, who appears not to have a clue. Lift your game! I'm not baiting you, I just wish you'd display some literacy.BigMart wrote:Confidence???
