Re: I took banned drug: Watson
From the evidence that is public so far I see this penalty satisfying the AFL,WADA/ASADA and the public.
End of home and away penalty handed down.
Essendon loss of all 2013 points. Each club they played awarded 4 points. = No finals for them.
Jobe's Brownlow removed and no winner recorded for the year.
Players in Jobe's position given 6 month's suspension (helping the AFL here as they can play in proper season 2014)
With this outcome the AFL have dodged a bullet in they have reaped the reward of gate takings for the home and away season.Opposing clubs have suffered no financial losses. No headaches with banning the club midway through the season re fixturing and final 8 outcomes.
Maybe exclusion of draft picks 2014 as well ?
Massive monetary fine... 2-3 million ?
Essendon only misses pre season while the AFL are seen to be going hard.
I expect something like this.

When Canterbury lost their points in 2004 no losing team got the points.
When Melbourne lost their premierships the runers up didn't get them.
If the drug cheats lose competition points losers wont get the points.
Stands to reason.

Wouldnt have a clue. do you honestly think they didnt know? And ASADA obviously know as well. I still cant work out how many players you want king hit. Can you tell us? Say 8 took this drug and they are all playing tomorrow night. Do you want all 8 king hit. very funny nick as well.

I believed you from day one .SAAD wrote:After listening to SEN later in the day I understood that Harper read the wrong information and didn't refer to the SO clause and consequently they later discovered that AOD has been banned since January 2011 and therefore Essendon are goooonnnnnnneeeee.
A lot of misinformation as this is previously unchartered territory...
Told you all months ago from my source at Richmond and the Lonergan statements that Essendon were dirty...and that Jobe was definitely getting jabbed...most of the responses were how do you know, yeah right etc...Now Jobe has admitted it...and not just the one or two injections but Jobe made reference that he had never received so many injections before in the show last night...
Burn you dirty Bombers...
Your source sounded very legit.

ASADA will eventually make a ruling.
But I think there is then an element of discretion/interpretation in how the AFL implements it.
Ultimately the big greaseball has to make that big decision on how to implement it.
His credibility and the credibility of the whole competition rests on that implementation.
It could be the most controversial decision in AFL history.

Posting the link to the ACC report so everyone can read for themselves.
http://www.crimecommission.gov.au/sites ... eb2013.pdf
AOD is referenced on pages 30, 41, 42 and 43.
------------------
It seems like the ACC report is flawed as it does not mention s0. And the intent is clear on the part of Essendon. They used a drug that was a known Growth Hormone varietal on their players hoping that it would enhance their players performance but thinking it was not banned. They thought they had found a loophole they could exploit.
I feel sorry for Jobe Watson as I think he'll lose Charlie. Also because he is the cousin of our player and I certainly don't wish ill to befall family members of Saints' players. However I am extremely dirty on the Bombers as a club who have seriously let down the AFL in this. They should be facing the risk of being disbanded but I somehow doubt they will get little more than a slap on the wrists.
IMO appropriate punishments would be of the order of 20 games out for the players involved (which should screw them for this year and next), multimillion dollar fines and 3-4 years of giving up their 1st and 2nd round draft picks.

for all the slow learners on this - including our very own self proclaimed smart guy - p66
which part of this dont you understand?
1. aod is banned
2. bombers players took it.
3. it is a strict liability offence (just like speeding in your car)
Would you like me to talk you through it slowly? I am available for individual tutoring .PM me.

What about teams whose players are injured playing the oversized Bombers? I remember we had a few players thrown around by them which may or may not have affected performances in later games.

Re: I took banned drug: Watson
The players should miss next season. Imagine if they let them play half a season in and they made finals with a much fresher team than the rest?
Jobs has to lose the brownlow or it's tainted forever.
This year lose all points. And ASADA has to rule well before finals so teams know where they stand leading in to the last few weeks of the h&a. Obviously Essendon get last picks in the drafts.

Jobe has admitted he's taken the game into disrepute. ASADA or no ASADA. That part is clear, so he must be stood down immediately.
As the AFL aren't doing this, they're clearly scared shyteless of Essendon's legal team. Surely can't be anything else.

You surely all know that the players will get a slap on the wrist and be banned for 5 months (of the OFF season only).
As ex-president Peter Summers said:

Re: I took banned drug: Watson
From today's "The Age"
A couple of points stand out there...
They have failed and they should not get away with it.
Read more: http://www.theage.com.au/afl/afl-news/w ... z2XGcZTEXzA number of Essendon players took the drug, which is banned by the World Anti-Doping Agency.
The Bombers, however, maintain that it has yet to be proven ''whether any of our players in the 2012 season were given prohibited or performance-enhancing substances''. Essendon has argued that AOD-9604 was not on WADA's banned list at the time of use, and that it is not performance-enhancing.
What Watson felt he had not been able to explain in the interview was that he, like his teammates, had followed every procedure and taken every step possible to comply with the doping codes.
In the interview, he mentioned that AOD-9604 had been deemed legal by club doctor Reid. Fairfax Media understands that not all of the consent forms for each substance taken by a player were signed by the club doctor.
A couple of points stand out there...
- It is quite clear to anyone who can be bothered to look it up and listen to the WADA officials that AOD-9604 is banned under the S0 category abd has been since Jan 1, 2011.
- The players have not followed every procedure nor taken every step as not one of them personally contacted WADA or ASADA to find out if the drug was banned.
- The doctor doesn't work for WADA or ASADA and only a very foolish athlete would put total faith in the doctor.
They have failed and they should not get away with it.
Re: I took banned drug: Watson
I think it's now obvious that Jobe will cop a lengthy suspension. What will be interesting is how many Bombers players admitted to ASADA they signed the consent form and took AOD? We've heard rumours that it was up to 8 players and other rumours it was the whole list with the exception of Fletcher and Reimers. AD would loath having to suspend 30 Bombers players for 12 months (or whatever it works out) knowing Essendon couldn't field a team. The TV rights deal would need renegotiating. It would be cleaner just to suspend the Essendon club from competition. Poor Goddard.....
Re: I took banned drug: Watson
Jobe may as well have taken the broom out if Demetrious hand.
No way can he sweep this under the carpet now.

Re: I took banned drug: Watson
I believe the AFL have been sitting in on all the ASADA interviews and proceedings, they would've been aware of this and more weeks ago.
The best and least messy option is to wait for the official findings and recommended punishments.
I see the day of Jobe's 'bombshell' that the senate approved increased powers for ASADA which among other things will enable them to compel people (including obviously Dank) to appear before them....
http://www.smh.com.au/opinion/political ... 2ovbf.html
What a coincidence.
If only the EFC had managed their 'supplements' program as thoroughly as they are managing the defence of their supplements program, and PR campaign.
Well, maybe they thought they had....

I believe that Jobe will hand back the brownlow and make a hero of himself.
Just a hunch I dont know for sure, I dont have any sources or anything.
I think it is all playing on his mind, hence the interview bombshell
