I don't think tonight had to do with the coaching, towards the end Kosi ran through the centre, hit the f50 line and froze, passing backwards/sidewards... we need to get the belief we had a couple of years ago when no one was afraid to run forward and take the game on.
How many times did the pies do that tonight? Fisher towards the end was brilliant, kick just fell short...thats how we need to play.

And where do you think that's going to come from?saintluke wrote:. . .we need to get the belief we had a couple of years ago when no one was afraid to run forward and take the game on.
The coaches primary job is to have the team mentally prepared for the game. If he's not doing that then the rest is just pissing into the wind.

Agree with that.JeffDunne wrote:The coaches primary job is to have the team mentally prepared for the game. The coaches main role in the modern game is motivation. Being able to inspire self-confidence, and motivating them to perform week in week out.
Unfortunately I have to agree with that...it seems as though Lyon needs to do something but the question is..what exactly????JeffDunne wrote:And where do you think that's going to come from?saintluke wrote:. . .we need to get the belief we had a couple of years ago when no one was afraid to run forward and take the game on.

While I have been critical of Lyon in the past, I am not certain that it was the coaching that let us down tonight.
But the change of coach certainly hasn't "taken us to the next level", that's for sure.
I really don't know where we go from here.
We did more than enough in the first quarter and a half, and at some stages after half time, to notch up a win.
What's wrong with us? I must honestly say that I really don't know.
We had a talented bunch of players on the ground tonight. All but a few of them (Schneider was the stand out failure) gave of their best.
The Filth had the rub of the green all night.
We seem to be going backwards in 2008 even from where we were in 2007. I have tended to think that getting rid of the coach was the answer, but I now feel that our problems go deeper than that.

The thing i want to know is why do we lack the motivation to get to the next level.meher baba wrote:While I have been critical of Lyon in the past, I am not certain that it was the coaching that let us down tonight.
