Re: Match thread v cats
Absolutely out on their feet. Selwood has had a big second half, Dangerfield a big last quarter. Both teams off 6 day breaks.
No doubt the brains trust will have plenty to work on this week.

Re: Match thread v cats
Lack of class in the midfield is biting us late in games. We need to address this or we are going nowhere. We are not bad,but we are clogged with 'not bad' players and very light on top end talent. Package a couple up at years end or stay in the middle road death valley for a decade

Always hard to lose when your key mids turn up like this.
Great game Lukey!

Thing is he had a pretty good game, did the job on Danger for a chunk of the game and set up and kicked goals. I keep saying this but possies aren't everything.skeptic wrote:Geeez looking at the stats...

Did you watch the game? The margin doesn't tell the whole story, we played well.Johnny Member wrote:SuperDuper wrote:nowhere near...Johnny Member wrote:Insipid. One of the most bitterly disappointing games in the past decade.

Midfield class was the difference today, Selwood and co killed us in the second half. Gresham struggled today but such a disappointing game from Billings after last week, can't remember how many times he turned it over. Looking for a big response from him next week

Hmm mm.
So we played well yet lost by 30 odd points to a fellow top 8 contender at our own home ground?
That's even worse.

Re: Match thread v cats
Maybe if you can speak more specifically rather than general negativity all the time we can have an actual discussion. We had the lead for about the same time as Cats, kicking accuracy improved, stuck it to a top 4 side for most of the game. The finish was disappointing, as it was against the Eagles, I'm not denying that, but to say it was insipid is either the most hyperbolic or just downright misinformed opinion on this forum all week. And that is not a great title to haveJohnny Member wrote:shrodes wrote: Did you watch the game? The margin doesn't tell the whole story, we played well.

Only got back for the last quarter
What I saw
Duncan
Selwood
Dangerfield
Parfitt
Guthrie
Murdoch
Vs
Dunstan
Acres
Gresham
Steven
Ross
Steel
And we were obliterated!!!
Slow, not a bit of leg speed... and looking to handball because they are all distributors and not receivers
The balance of the midfield is horrible

Re: Match thread v cats
Playing high pressure footy kept us in for a three quarters, but run out of puff in the last quarter and Geelong storms home by a margin that doesn't do the match justice. Becoming a common theme with the Saints.
We just don't have the fitness to play at this intensity for four quarters and the moment we're out of gas, the opposition's class makes us pay big.
Unfortunately, we don't have the midfield class of a Selwood or Dangerfield, so until trade week, there probably isn't a better solution.

Well you missed three quarters of us matching it and in fact beating them only to have momentum taken away by shocking umpiring.BigMart wrote:Only got back for the last quarter

We would have been Five goals up if they didn't keep Geelong in it with s*** umpiring.mullet wrote:Cant blame umpiring for an 8 goal 4 last quarterCURLY wrote:Well you missed three quarters of us matching it and in fact beating them only to have momentum taken away by shocking umpiring.BigMart wrote:Only got back for the last quarter

Re: Match thread v cats
24 touches in two weeks for one of our prime midfielders is really inspiring stuff.

It was a mistake and just one of many that directly favoured them. Mackies goal was just cheating clear as day the ump handed them a goal.Devilhead wrote:Can someone please explain this decision?CURLY wrote:Umpires broke our spirits eventually when Roo marked we where 13 points down.

Re: Match thread v cats
Geelong had 24 frees out our 22. I think we have bigger problems than the umpiring.
