We need a fullback and I think Gilbert has the size and speed to be a really good player in that position.
We need the delivery of Goddard and Dal Santo coming off HB as that is where your attack starts if we are trying to play a quick transition game.
However, if we plan to play a slower more possession based game then they should probably move into the midfield with quicker Peake and Ray coming off half back.

Don't mind this team as well. The only change I would make would be to bring in a small/medium player for Stanley. I don't think we can go in with Roo, Mac, Kosi and Stanley in the same team. I'd bring in Siposs for Stanley. Peake thereabouts as well.Spinner wrote:FB: Clarke Wilkes Ray

What are you saying? Wilkes forward or left out? From what Waters has said he wants Kosi to play the 'Leigh Brown' role which he did last year anyway.Con Gorozidis wrote:Spinner wrote:FB: Clarke Wilkes Ray

I think this back line looks a little shakySpinner wrote:FB: Clarke Wilkes Ray

Clarke & Ray have had inconsistent seasons and form - Wilkes = untried
I've never seen a bad St.Kilda player - that's just how they are.

I reckon Simpkin will be given a reasonable chance at FB. So Wilkes will be FF or left out (early in the season).
The Kos will be bench-ruck. With the very occassional run down fwd.
kosi isnt the greatest but unless an untried wilkes or stanley dramatically improve as forwards then i see no other option. roo as the only tall doesnt work imo. kosi gets a gig as a forward/ruck by default.Con Gorozidis wrote:Not this Leigh Brown thing again!Old Mate wrote:What are you saying? Watters coming from Collingwood, and working with 2 rucks and 2 key forwards playing together.
I hope we see all of Roo, Kosi, McEvoy and Wilkes.
McEvoy - Jolly
Roo - Cloke
Wilkes - Dawes
Kois - Brown
It will stop Roo being triple teamed and Kosi to be at his best with the freedom to roam around the ground.

I will say it again. They dont have ruckman on the bench these days or if they do it is a very limited time. Kosi either plays in the forward line or doesnt play. The only Wilkes will play forward is if Kosi doesnt play.Con Gorozidis wrote:Not this Leigh Brown thing again!Old Mate wrote:What are you saying? Wilkes forward or left out? pluggs i could have sworn you said kosi would play ruck or not all last season. but u are right. most teams like 3 mids on the bench coming on and off every 2 minutes. i still think the kos is a bit of a witches hat at FFwd these days. but maybe that was because his ankle was crook.plugger66 wrote: I will say it again. wilkes will probably start the season as reserve fb and reserve FF.
so he is back-up for 2 posis but probably wont be in starting 22 in that case.

Siposs to half fwd for Cripps.Spinner wrote:FB: Clarke Wilkes Ray

Cripps to half back for Clarke.
Dempster to backline with Peake on the bench.
Gram to miss out unless he shows improvement because for whatever reason he hasnt shown enough since that granny.
Re comments on the shaky backline, its not too dissimilar to one of the best backlines we've ever had from a couple of years ago. Just Dawson replaced with Wilkes. Could chuck head, gwilt (in time) or blake in there.
Also, I like Ledger but I think Saad would be a fantastic sub choice if no place for him in the starting 21.

Clarky has only shown fits and spurts of his best whilst Ray has never been a consistent part of the back six. Wilkes? Didn't work at West Coast in the back line but he may work depending on what he brings to the structure.St Ick wrote:Siposs to half fwd for Cripps.Spinner wrote:FB: Clarke Wilkes Ray

Our best backline has usually had Blake and Gwilt as consistent performers.
