Not sure why the Aussies bowling tactics fall out their ass when Stokes is on strike?
Will need to set a larger total to chase than last Test to win this one.

Here's an idea, how about bowling at the stumps.
Think of me long enough to make a memory.

Re: Ashes comments
Any other batter who fails as often as Warner does at this late stage of his career would be gonski, but not Warner.
It's like the Oz team have conceded they'll be 1 for not much each innings and just work around it.
Doesn't say much for all the opening batsmen in Shield cricket if Warner is the preferred opener, still.
How many defenders will The Saints pick in the 2024 draft ?

Not that carpet is an acceptable decorative furnishing these days, so I’m told.

Re: Ashes comments
I think the Poms have got this one.
Will take a few minor miracles to win from here. A target of over 300 was always a minimum to set the Poms, and even then they’d still be favourites.
Labuschagne and Smith have been more disappointing than Warner for me. Warner’s on his last legs, but those 2 are still meant to be at the top of their game.

Re: Ashes comments
Actually, if Australia win (and I think Australia will win), it will be Todd Murphy's wicket that could be remembered. He is the junior burger thrown into the fire. Getting clobbered by the Tiger tank, until he got Stokes to mistime and sky that shot.
He bowls nicely, but nothing like as loopy and revvy as Gary. (says me in front of the telly.)
What I do not know - and maybe you sportmen and women, who have played at more competitive levels, can answer this.
How do professionals, who have dedicated millions of hours, blessed with incredible talent, blessed with fortune after fortune, and having fought through slumps and being lost and hopelessness, with doggedness and stoic determination, finally, with loads of experience at the top level of sport, and now standing at the cusp of their long careers, make the decisions they do???
HOW THE F########K?????
Please tell me!
Moen Ali!
What the F?
We saw him trying to lope the ball square..
We saw how late he intersects the call.
How likely the ball will go up and up!
Cunmings tempts him, puts in a man square, drops a bouncer!
And duh....like Pavlo's dog, we swings and skies it.
Luckily for him, it drops into a small but shrinking piece of paddock.
OK..ALi would say to himself...brain fade! re-f####g - set!
Now Cummings knew, that he would do it again??
Puts ANOTHER man in!
Drops ANOTHER bouncer!
And voila, Ali obliges AGAIN!!
Ashes at stake....duh...!!
Swings to square again with that lazy loopy action (graceful almost)
And caught!
How does that happen?
Now Marnus and SS also threw their wickets away..
How does it happen?
PS note to self, try not to comment just after morning coffee!

Stokes has more lifes than a cat .
Broad just has to put the ball in the slot and Warner can't help but nick it .

Re: Ashes comments
We need at least another 150, hoping Head & Marsh can repeat their 1st innings digs with some better cameos from Carey, Cummins and Starc.
Regardless of the result, I'd like to see Green, Neser and the Wild Thing in for the 4th Test. Warner dropped - Marsh to open. Starc & Boland rested.
EDIT: Just remembered the Wild Thing did not make it to England. Pity, I am very keen to see him play for Australia.

Re: Ashes comments
He’s played 15 first class games
42 wickets at 27
The player who can’t get any luck is JhyeRichardson
Who would be a handful in English conditions
He’s take 101 first class wickets in 24 matches at 22 apiece

Re: Ashes comments
Yes Jhye Richardson is a beauty, originally cruelled by the selectors desire to keep the NSW cartel together, then injuries have done him no favours. Would tear it up in England at his best.

Re: Ashes comments
I wonder how much better the Poms bowling attack would be if Jofra Archer was able to play, instead of being almost permanently injured.

I think the Boland run is over, unless the pitch is seaming around he doesn’t offer much, too predictable.shanegrambeau wrote: ↑Sat 08 Jul 2023 4:23pm What do you think of Scott Boland’s and Josh Hazelwood’s performances on this tour so far?

Re: Ashes comments
We'll lose this one. The Smith and Labuschagne shots were worse than woeful and have cost us the game. Warner has been gone for some time. He should do the right thing and retire after this game. Play both Marsh and Green and open with Head. Renshaw is a dud.

Re: Ashes comments
What I've found interesting so far is that bazball against a quality attack comes up a little short .
However Australia has kept the games exciting with dropping catches ( ie stokes too great knocks aided by about a dozen life's)
And batting collapses.
I loved to see what our team from around the millennium would do to bazball .

Too frail.
The Bazball thing is a croc against quality opposition IMO
Although I love the spirit of it
I do think their pace bowling is good…and I rate Ollie Floginson too. I think he’s a very good bowler even tho his speeds are what they are. As good as Hazelwood/Boland nowadays.
Woakes is decent too. The others are champs
Spin attack is mediocre
Batsman are frail - very frail. Fielding - catching is poor ..keeping us sub-standard..
Stokes is a wildcard - he’s exciting and I love to watch…but not reliable
Then they are wounded and injured or under done or part roasted
Stokes Robinson Anderson even Moen Ali,
I can see the winning sessions perhaps even days at best
You're quite brilliant Shane, yeah..terrific!
