This thread title is geting less and less rediculous each week.
Membrey is a GUN. involved in so many ways, works so hard.. agile, big tank, very strong mark, tackles, quick hands.... and dead eye dick in front of goals

Re: Membrey... The new Jake Stringer?
Agree the OP seems not at all ridiculous....is shaping up to be better than Stringe. Maybe not AA yet, but is a genuine target and is great defensively and in contests. Only 188cm. Plays tall for that height. Good hands. Great kick. If Paddy can come on and fulfil his potential they'll be a potent combo. Would also love to see someone other than Bruce share the ruck duties so he can return to being a full time FF.

Have said it before but Timmy boy will be very valuable for us. Well, he is already isn't he!
Might go down in the history of the Club as one of the great draft bargains off all time. Along with that rookie pick, Mav Weller!

Fantastic get by our list managers. Cost us nothing and is averaging 3 goals a game this year. Looking better every week. Should have kicked at least 5 or 6 today.

What will his new contract be? 4 years at 400k? His price must be getting higher every week.

Re: Membrey... The new Jake Stringer?
Boy I'm becoming a believer. I said earlier it was a worry that our key forward today would be a 188 player. No probs! Gee he has long arms that belies his lack of height. Add strong hands, good timing, very good off the deck and a really strong work ethic, and you have a genuinely damaging forward that is extremely hard to match up on. He is in brilliant form. Its amazing what confidence can do for you.
Like Bruce we can't get too carried away and need to if he can sustain this now that teams will put more work into him and might start getting better backmen. But we may have found another real bargain here.

Get Paddy on the park and firing and allow Bruce to play as a full time forward and we have a potent forward line in the making.Bluthy wrote:Boy I'm becoming a believer. Re: Membrey... The new Jake Stringer?
I also think that due to his size and appearance a lot of people assume he's more established than he actually is, and may forget the fact that he's only played 24 games.
It's been a breakout season for Tim and also for Seb and big Tom Hickey too - so satisfying to see these guys come on + the general improvement from the other young blokes.
Also interesting to see he's out of contract at the end of this year? I think we should pre-empt any sniffing around by the other clubs by getting him to sign on the dotted line asap!

According to another poster, that is imminent. Hope he's right.Johnny Favier wrote:I also think that due to his size and appearance a lot of people assume he's more established than he actually is, and may forget the fact that he's only played 24 games.

Re: Membrey... The new Jake Stringer?
Word was that he got impatient at Sydney with Goodes continuing to play on. When Goodes decided to play another year Membrey left... their loss is definitely our gain, he has been huge for us this year and looms as one of the best trades in the clubs history considering what we gave to get him

Great pick up and am very glad he has taken his chances with open arms.

Re: Membrey... The new Jake Stringer?
Still trying to get my head around the fact he's only played 24 games and just 22. He looks like a 100 gamer already. What really impressed me yesterday was his work up the ground. Goes in hard, never gets beaten and makes the right choices with his disposal. Get a full preseason in him next year and get his tank up I wouldn't mind seeing him get a run in the middle. The odd cameo here or there could be dangerous and give us a good rotation option. Put Mav in the guts too and I reckon a few opposition mids might be to busy looking over there shoulder instead of watching the ball

Re: Membrey... The new Jake Stringer?
The Member has stood tall this year.
Paddy/Bruce/Membrey all playing together will test all defences to the max and very few teams have enough quality defenders to cover all three.
Especially as they play more games together and learn to play collectively rather than getting in each others way.
Was particularly pleased to see Membrey constantly presenting himself.
Not sure if it is instinct or just good concentration and discipline, but he is consistently getting into dangerous spots.

What rotation option? We have the same 3 out of 4 blokes in the middle virtually every centre bounce.stkfc1 wrote:Still trying to get my head around the fact he's only played 24 games and just 22.
