Lance or James??
There comes a point in every man's life when he has to say, "Enough is enough." For me, that time is now. I have been dealing with claims that I cheated and had an unfair advantage in <redacted>. Re: Forum Makeover
I just did a quick search for other teams forums… and made up a list if anyone has the stomach to see what other are doing…
Clearly BigFooty is the big one which hosts chats for every club, but most clubs have at least one other standalone forum…
From what I have seen, they are mostly pretty basic like SS, I personally like the dockerland one, which is very content rich, but I imagine it probably has a dedicated webmaster who updates all the content.
Anyway, probably worth checking out what's out there if we are going to re-jig… I'm sure there a loads of great ones for other sports too… post any good ones if you know of any.

Re: Forum Makeover
so do we need a dedicated webmaster?
if we want the best site that has the best content and abilities we might have to discuss that kind of path
great work dragit

Re: Forum Makeover
whilst there is / could be great value in connections
(past n present) from the stkfc being involved in the new ss
... it feels important to note
that independance (of thought n process)
has always been , imo ,
the over riding strength of what happens here
via a simple passion for our club
n in the main its effups.
ie ,
please lets not become 'suckholes'
to the club and THEIR processes
but
organisationally n creatively INTERdependant
ie ,
lets not allow ourselves ,
as this change in direction manifests ,
to swing from independant to dependant.
interdependance is the healthy
long term sustainable emotionally balanced perspective ... imo .

Re: Forum Makeover
I think what Gaz is trying to say, is to keep SS independent of the club. If so, I agree.

Re: Forum Makeover
100% gaz… freedom to comment/ criticize and be a bit naughty is half of the appeal of this place...
It can't be 'officially' connected to the club IMO, too risky for them, and no fun for us.

Re: Forum Makeover
its not my fault YOU cannot read n comprehend gramps.
... i take great care in presenting my thoughts articularly n without a 'this is how it is or should be' mindset.
i clearly argue for INTERDEPENDANCE
not dependance or independance.
basically , pull out a dictionary ,
learn the difference ,
n shove your intellectual disrespect up your arse.

Re: Forum Makeover
Great work BFUSA! Even just stimulating discussion on the issue is a positive! I have visited the fan forums of other clubs and what I have found remarkable about this, is just how alike footy barrackers are! The same reasoned, and unreasoned comments, the same bragging and the same despair! I visited "dockerland" last season to see how they were discussing their new coach and his gameplan, I wanted to make a post myself, but needed to register, so decided to leave it there. The doggies forum requires you to register to be a member, AND you need to have a bona-fide email account ...NO yahoo, Hotmail, gmail et al. Could this be one option? Personally, I'd be happy to pay an annual subscription (like a club membership) to cover the costs of administering the site. I agree with the earlier poster who came to the defence of Saints66AU and echo the comments +100! A nicer guy you could not hope to meet AND 1000% percent loyal to this club! I hope that we will see a little more activity by the moderators in curbing some of the more outrageous comments and abuse that flies between posters (especially on the general forum) its a real turn-off for mine.

What's a bona-fide email account? Pretty sure I am registered on here with a hotmail address… as it's my main account.thejiggingsaint wrote: AND you need to have a bona-fide email account ...NO yahoo, Hotmail, gmail et al. Could this be one option?

Love this site and support anyone with the passion, ability and time to make improvements. Some of us (who are heavy on commitment to the club and a bit light on with hardcore footy smarts ) read a great deal and post infrequently. Poll.....done

Re: Forum Makeover
dragit, you'll have to forgive an old codger like me who is still very much "challenged" in the area of "social media etc" What I was trying to say is that you need to submit your main account in order to post? (which I think you already do? ) As far as the general forum goes, well it does need some moderating (even from people like me

Re: Forum Makeover
no worries… jiggs… not sure if there is any way to completely eradicate trolls, some probationary periods and new thread limits might help though… plus some admin/mods who visit daily or can login in reasonable time when we shine the giant SS into the sky like the batman logo.

Re: Forum Makeover
the general forum is a bit ... them versus us.
it'd wanna be the best moderator in the land !
... best leave it alone , imo.
numbers of ex moderators have fallen on their own swords
after getting out of their depth in there
... and thats after bannings , complete eradications of posters histories
n other misinformed manipulations n treacheries.
1 id ONLY would be a workable positive fix / change.
with HSV the only mod worth his salt n smart enough
to keep an eye on the shifty , the sneaky n the odd emotional cretin.
imo , of course.

Re: Forum Makeover
Reasonable comments PoQ. The GF could be a good forum for discussions, and its not always the Mods responsibility to make sure it's discussions and debates don't get into the realms of abuse etc. THAT responsibility lies with US! in being reasonable in our choices of terms and language when addressing each other. As I've said, I'm as guilty of mischief making and causing hassle as anyone, but have CHANGED after some wise words of criticism from another poster who I had the utmost respect for.

In my own defence however, some of my "provocations" were mild indeed compared to some of the terms that were used toward ME! But that was THEN, subject now closed, we move on!.

agreed ... a little community self moderation
goes a long way
... n flows on to taking 'pressure' off the appointed mods.
